Oh I was not aware of a possible adapter!
    You mean a DIY adapter?

Hey guys, I figured this might be a good place to ask, but I've recently picked up some component cables for my Wii so I've been able to try out my XRGBMini in component mode (though a D-SUB adapter, since the unit doesn't have component input obviously :p). I'm getting some weird "combing" like effects though, any idea what the cause might be?

Note the blank line near the bottom of the letters and the way curves (like on the 2) seem to have this extra pixel.

I get that when running my Dreamcast via RGB and my PS2 through a real D-Terminal cable. Check out the Framemister wiki for a recommended setting for the game cube. It may stop the effect.

In other news, all who have pre-orderd a Framemister will be happy to know that stock will be arriving this week so units will be shipped out soon. Also, I managed to get a few more units in so stock is still available for anyone interested in buying a Framemister.

Any good replacement USA power supplies? I'd like to diagnose my framemeister.
Its power and standby lights turn on, but seemingly nothing else. No AV or response to buttons.

In the past, I've used bulky power supplies to power the xrgb mini, but all you really need is a usb to dc power cable and a decent USB charger.

Personally, I use an Anker 40W supply:
    http://www.amazon.com/Desktop-Charg...UTF8&qid=1416760362&sr=8-1&keywords=anker+40w

And I run this USB cable:
    http://www.amazon.com/Sony-PlayStat...TF8&qid=1416760495&sr=8-2&keywords=usb+to+psp

It works well. The xrgb mini never really draws more than 1.5 amps, from my testing.

I also use that Anker USB charger to simultaneously power several other 5V devices in the area, including a network switch, Wii U Pad cradle, USB Wii Sensor Bar, and a logitech harmony hub. It drastically cuts down on the clutter in terms of AC adapters.

If you have one, a plain PSP AC adaptor should work plenty fine as well. If I recall, they're 5V 2A, which is plenty for the xrgb mini.

Ah, there we go! Fiddling with the scale settings removed this effect. Setting it to "picture" seems to do the trick.

Glad you sorted out the issue. Hmm, Pixture setting you say? I should try that when using my DC and PS2.

^ settings depend on the input source, "picture" is great for 240p sources. PS2 which is normally a 480i source benefits from "natural". Plus you have to take into account the "Auto Scaler" setting.
The wiki here has some very detailed setup profiles for various sources: http://junkerhq.net/xrgb/index.php/XRGB-mini_FRAMEMEISTER

Yeah, auto scaler was the cause of the issue. For some reason, setting it to "off" didn't solve the issue, I had to set it to picture first then to off.

How good is the auto setting for aspect ratio? I set it to auto but after setting my Wii to widescreen, it was still 4:3. Maybe it's a setting with my tv.

The Wii will output a 4:3 image technically no matter what. The difference is it is rendering a 16:9 image squished in that 4:3 box, with your TV stretching it out to the 16:9 ratio. So technically, the IQ can be a bit worse in some ways.

For what it's worth, the wii2hdmi I got outputs 720x480 no matter the aspect ratio. It seems like the anamorphic mode we get on DVDs.

Right like Borman pointed out Gamecube (and thus Wii) does not officially output any square pixel 16:9 modes.
Whether or not the hardware could be tricked into it, none were approved or supported by Nintendo.

However Resident Evil 4 (GC) and Beyond Good & Evil are letterboxed 4:3. Not the vastly more common anamorphic 16:9.

    Hi

I just got my Framemeister with the mail from Japan. It works fine but I wanted to update the firmware to the english 1.11. Now when I plug it in with the micro SD card (an the Folders on the card) it doesnt update but just sits with 1 red and 1 green LED on.

Does anybody know if I have to have a specifically formatted SD card or what else I could be doing wrong?

    thanks!

I've updated over 100 Framemister units by now so here's how you do it. Put the folder XRGBmini in to the root of your SD card with all the files in it. Then put it in to your Framemister. Next connect the power cable to the Framemister and it will automatically update. The process takes about 30 seconds. You'll see all the green LEDs flash. You'll know when it's finished the update once the red led starts to fade in and out.

I think when you originally unzip the Framemister firmware it unzips to a folder with a different name and in that folder is the XRGBmini folder containing all the data. This is the folder you want to move on to the SD card. There should only be one folder on the SD card.

If you are updating the firmware as I've described then you could have a faulty unit. I've had 2 that wouldn't update in the past.

Hmm. I didn't try reflashing the firmware for my issue.

Is 1.11 the latest English firmware available? Was this released recently or a long time ago? The reason I ask is because if it was released a while ago, Yakumo would have updated the machine for you before sending it out.

1.11 is the latest firmware. It was released in May 2014 but nothing else has been released since then in Japanese or English. All Framemeisters sold by me will have the latest firmware available at the time of purchase in English.

Just a bump to let people know the Framemeisters are in stock and still selling well now that I'm back from the UK. All who ordered while I was in the Uk have had their units shipped out along with the Component to D-Terminal cables if ordered.

I consider buying one in February or March. Is there a waiting list or can you process orders right away?

I can process right away unless there's a country sell out which has happened twice in the past. I can't see that happening between now and summer though. You should be fine but if you really want I could put one aside for you.
