Got my Framemeister from Yakumo within a week of ordering it. Came with the JP21 to din cable and dterminal. I ordered a fancy scart cable from that uk retro cables place, but I couldn't wait for it to get here so I opened up the JP21 and rewired it to scart and was quickly enjoying HD RGB goodness :) Keep going between 720p + scanlines and 1080p raw. I love them both! Either way thank you Yakumo!

Are there different hardware revisions for the framemeister and would we get the latest version? Going to get my systems recapped and and fixed before I dive into this.

There are different hardware revisions but what's different I couldn't tell you. My own personal one is one of the very first units to be made however apart from the hardware model number it's 100% the same function wise as the newest models.

The Framemister units I sell come direct from micomsoft so you can be sure that they are the latest hardware revisions. I also change the Japanese firmware for the most recent English firmware at no extra charge.

In case anyone missed the news (like me!) there is now a v2.00 firmware available: http://www.micomsoft.co.jp/xrgb-mini_download.htm
Except from faster 240p/480i switching the new version adds the ability to SAVE/LOAD profiles on the SD card! So you can have per-console settings now easily :D

Frist off, thanks Yakumo for the great deal on the Framemeister!

Does anyone have a walkthrough on how to do this? As a brand new Framemeister owner I've never upgraded the firmware and would DEFINITELY like to learn more about this feature.

Found a YouTube video on how to update. Looks pretty straightforward. Would love to hear more about the save feature, though. Hopefully it's easy to toggle.

Yeah it's easy: There is a data menu now with save/load options, works really nice

Tried the new firmware last night. Great stuff. Tonight I'll be updating my stock with the new English firmware so that all customers can have the best experience available. The profile saving is excellent!
MoockyLoock, I got your PM, thanks!

Looks like a pretty good update, I see there are more settings for sync, perhaps that will help stabilise the image with MD Jap :) I will certainly try tonight, thanks for the heads up, mate!

Gave the update a try last night too. Looks good. Resident Evil 2 on the N64 is still unplayable due to sync timing, unfortunately, but it does seem to be syncing somewhat better now.

Not at all, in their immense kindness, Micomsoft made an english firmware pretty early on the cycle of the Framemeister, they keep the updates in sync for both Japanese and English. Link here: http://www.micomsoft.co.jp/xrgb-mini_download.htm

The new firmware works much better with the Megadrive Jap Mark 1 that I have, I probably still need to get my sync strike working to get the image perfect but it's pretty damn stable. The preset save work great, especially when the Megadrive and the MegaCD decide to behave differently with sync. Oh well now I have 2 preset for the same block of machines and I can switch easily.

Overall this firmware feels like it's behaving better than the previous one, so I'm happy :)

Had a software crash today. Simply turned it on, and it loaded and stopped responding. Had to switch off at the wall to reboot it as the buttons weren't working on the device either. This might be either a one off thing or perhaps a bug in V2.00 . Never had this behaviour before.

    Is your unit bricked then?

No. Rebooting it fixed the problem. That's why I said "this might have been a one off thing or something".

No issues myself so far with the new firmware and it is indeed more stable on the Mega Drive. My model 1 JPN Mega Drive used to have sync issues every few minutes where the screen would give a little flicker for a second but that seems to have gone now.

Does anyone understand what the new Sync Time option is for? The default is 3 then it goes all the way up to 100. Is this the time in milliseconds it takes to sync? That would be fantastic with resolution switching games. Doesn't seem to be that though.
