Some people get it confused with the Goldeneye that did come out, had someone who assumed that was it.

This is 100% out there because I was in contact with someone years ago who had this.

You both better go looking for it.

But Borman does have the biggest point about proof.

    Exactly...

I know a guy, who knows a guy, who's sisters ex boyfriend's cousin had this game. I would get proof, but his camera is broken. I went to drive over there but had to borrow a car from my neighbor which got a flat tire. So yeah, basically "confirmed" at this point, right??

For the love of this game, I hope it's out there. But I'm not holding my breath it'll surface anytime soon.

Hell no lol. This is the original N64 game redone in full HD with revamped textures and models. The game you are talking about was a pseudo remake for Wii, PS3 and 360 Activision made. The original game was a Rare developed game, so it has no real ties to the Activision one since this game has Pierce Brosnan and the other one is more like a COD mod staring Daniel Craig and many changes to get around licensing issues.

    Also this.

I trust someone that it's in a very limited group of people. Way back in the day when I was more active in the whole PN/XDK scene, one of my contacts that I got a lot of early alphas from that are not on the internet or any leaked gameplay of, kept mentioning that he hoped that his friend would give it to him one day. I know that sounds vague, but with some of the stuff he has given me, he really didn't have a reason to lie about it. However, if that's story is true, I doubt that it'll ever that group.

Yeah, the Activision version sucked. They made it Call of GoldenEye.

Nintendo Japan was who shut this down. I saw somebody else blaming Activision. While I'm all about pointing out how bad they are as a company, blame doesn't lie there.

When the Goldeneye HD was discovered back in 2009-2010, it was revealed that Nintendo was responsible for being the one who stalled an official release.

Didn't know that NoA-NoE agreed but NoJ backstepped in the last minute, they probably have an strife with the fact that Rare was no longer in their hands, funny enought, the Stamper brothers said that Nintendo never tried to buy the remaining share.

Yup. From what I heard, even Microsoft was down to actually help fund a WII version, but NOJ knew that it would show how much superior the 360 version was and were totally against it. When MS wants to fund development for them, and they say no, really goes above and beyond to show how shitty NOJ is.

Didn't know that, but Microsoft is know for honouring contracts over developers they buy, Rare was allowed to make GBA and DS games, Bungie finished Oni, and Minecraft was released to PSVita and still available for PS3-PS4.

I believe that. MS even made a version of Skype for PSP! They owned Skype and STILL wanted to support a competing system. Microsoft can be a bitch sometimes, but you have to honor them for doing that.

They had Skype for PSP and Vita, but it's no longer supported, but indeed, at least they have an honor for their contracts

NoJ at time/until now is being pretty much what SoJ was in the mid 90s with the SoA and the Saturn, I wouldn't be surprised that if they bought an studio that was making an multiplatform game that was almost done, they would cancel the entire game or the ports for the rival platforms.

It would have been nice if instead of shutting everything down, NOJ asked for a port similar to the XBLA one for the Wii. I know it's probably more complicated than that, but one can dream.

I think that was what they were going to do, was make the 360 version and port it to Wii. At least that is what I have heard.

I once heard from someone about how several unreleased Xbox 360 games might have been preserved the same way as this cancelled remake of GoldenEye, including the Shenmue I & II HD Pack that was supposedly completed ahead of a planned December 2012 release then pulled at the last minute, though not before it was briefly made available via PNet. The irony is that some quite major names within Sega maintain such a thing never existed and that the company has only ever considered putting together an upscaled port of the Dreamcast originals, when in reality it was listed as accessible to debug units then even reported on by a handful of journalists, who've clearly forgotten this little detail. I can only begin to imagine what else may be out there, hidden from the public's eyes... My guess is that someone within the vast mysterious reaches of darknet probably has all of these and countless other prototypes, hoarding them in the ultimate exercise of futility that is virtual genitalia comparison!

Again though, no evidence that it was actually Shenmue and not just a placeholder or garbage export.
