Theres the chance that bluray finds its way into the next Xbox, but not into the X360. Is just too late...
Indeed. I honestly don't see the point in adding BD-Rom capability to the 360 if its only going to be for movies. Perhaps price the add on as a cheap solution compared to buying a dedicated Blu-Ray player?
i actually wouldn't mind a blu-ray add on. as long as it's cheaper than a PS3/stand alone unit. i just want to be able to watch blu-ray movies. but i'm not ready to get a PS3 (mainly because there isn't an easy way to hook it up via VGA or DVI and i don't have a tv for it) and there's no way i'm buy a blu-ray player. i haven't seen a blu-ray movie yet... but i hear it's like 6x better than dvd!
HDMI to DVI is like, 3 or 4$ from Monoprice. THough the whole no TV thing would be a bigger issue lol
lol, thanks for the link. i've been looking for an official cable for the PS3. @ Phrequency i've seen a million movies on regular ray. i want to see some blu-ray movies now!
Hopefully this is accompanied by a better heatsink and fan system. Otherwise, I don't believe the 'Jasper' design will totally solve the RROD problems.
SONY COMPUTER ENTERTAINMENT has nothing to do with the video division it would be the same like both PS2 and XBOX played back DVDs
Sony is only one member of the Blu-ray Disc Association and could not reasonably prevent Microsoft from licensing the technology.
From a company law viewpoint it would be a shot in the foot if they didn't. They d make more money allowing the use of BD btw.
So theres nothing to look foward to... BTW, does anyone knows if theres a 3rd partie internal cooling solution, liquid or not, designed specifically for the X360? Well as they said Sony's divisions could be considered as a bunch of small companies that work together but also compete with each other. While SCE would prefer for BD to be a PS3 exclusive to help sales, the media section (movie and tv studios) would rather have BD on as many products in the market as possible, so they can push more discs and takeover the DVD market.
why doesnt ms outsource the bluray drive ? i mean i understand they dont want to pay royalities to sony for the drive but couldnt they just outsource the thing to another company ?
And the company sell it for a loss? No point. The HD-DVD drive add-on was sold at a loss to help bolster HD-DVD as a format (Toshiba helped fund the add-on) and the only real reason for Microsoft to release it in the first place was to have a "me-too" to the blu-ray in the PS3.
