    Lawl, HK for the win...

Leave it Asia that a game I bought over a week go that shipped out last week's Monday, arrives in my mail box today (exactly 1 week), yet stuff I bought from the US that were to be sent out 2 days earlier have not arrived yet. =)

Well, got my GCN gundam game (the cheaper one). It's all nice, new and minty. Probably won't open it for a while since my GCN is not modded yet (going to install a region switch soon). I also ordered a copy of Gundam Assault Survive (PSP) yesterday (should be in a week since it too is coming from HK). Still waiting on my 3 PS2 games, a Sys246 (that needs fixing) & a questionable copy of Zaft for Sys246.

*twiddles thumbs waiting for other things to arrive*

Yeah, if you aren't interested in "studying" to learn the commands, then don't bother w/ SRT. The story, of course, would be hard to follow. There's some good cheese though.

The one not in Mame is talked about extensively here, complete w/ screenshots. It's a cheap board as well. The other is Psycho Salamander, and is very playable in Mame.

The Bandai one I thought. :) The Day The Colony Fell, or whatever. It's not a versus game (and was first gen). Renpo vs. Zion was definitely last gen. I think both are owning, although the latter hasn't dated so well as there are many superior "updates".

Man I feel like an idiot. Does the Xeno Modchip bypass region lock on GCN software? If so, I totally forgot I have one from thanks to assembler's sale. Why install a switch when I can just install the chip (which will be easier to solder).

Side note, my questionable copy of Gundam Fed vs Zaft software kit showed up today (i see it's out for delivery but I'm at work, building will accept it for me). I'll show later tonight why it's questionable (i grabbed it for being cheap, but now that I know it's cheaper from yahoo, I'm going to snag up a legit copy soon, along with the rest). My 256 board probably wont arrive till friday/next week. :crying:

Neat, I'll have to google/youtube it for pics/video.[/QUOTE]

For the dreamcast correct? Is it this one?
    http://www.gamefaqs.com/dreamcast/197508-gundam-side-story-0079-rise-from-the-ashes/images

The only other games listed for dreamcast on gamefaq is a Strat, Capcom's Vs, This game & Gundam Battle Online by Sega.

    (GBO) http://www.gamefaqs.com/dreamcast/471531-gundam-battle-online/images

If it is Rise from the Ashes, it looks to be a continuation of the Saturn/PS1 gundam games.

There was a hidden URL there:
    http://www.gamengai.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2727&start=0

You'd think w/ the theme change we'd finally get underlined links.

Yes, but of course I never realized that retarded English subtitled. The proper one (on the spine) is "The Day the Colony Fell". It's not bad, and should cost very little.

I kind of saw there was a link when I went to quote but was going to check it later today. It's also worth noting I hate the new theme and use the old red/black theme ;-)

Yeah I kind of now realise I should have checked one of the boxart links on the site since one notes the title "Colony no Ochichita Chide..."
Anyways I'll have to pick it up sometime. =)

It does...of course, you can easily do that with a Freeloader too.

Yeah but I already have a Xeno chip sitting on my shelf and my gcn is a standard unit (not some LE or anything I should care about). =)

What great luck today. Today my 3 PS2 games showed up along with my Zaft kit for Sys246. Even better, my copy of Zaft turned out less sketchy then expected.

The whole reason I say sketchy is because this was the ebay auction. It looked like I was getting a DVD-R + a security dongle that was missing it's label and had zaft written on it. I know I should know better but I was looking for a cheap gundam game to play if i'm able to fix the Sys246 on it's way (this was prior to hitting up yahoo).

While I still got a DVD-R, the security dongle actually is not the one pictured and looks legit. Anyways I plan replace it with more complete/proper version after I see if I can fix the Sys246. If I get it working, I'm going to do a huge yahoo order and pretty much snag 5 games (Z, Z DX, Zaft, Zaft 2 & GvG, but that last one needs a Sys256 to run).

Here is a picture of my Gundam collection as it stands now. The only thing I'm waiting on is my Sys246 pcb (which should be end of week) & Gundam Assault Survive for PSP.

Time to boot up my ps3 (BC) and check out some Fed vs Zeon (I think the mission mode might be the precursor to Gundam Battle series).

Oh, a side note. This week's famitsu announced a new Macross game for PS3. No word on the dev yet but the title is "Macross Trial Frontier", so there is a chance this could be a sequel to Ultimate Frontier on the PSP.

Yep. The new macross game is (sort of) a continuation of the Macross Frontier series on psp. The thing is, it's not a full game but a small game based on the macross movie it is bundled with. I'm gonna have to add it to my list of buys this xmas =P (3ds being first, mmm the though of 3d gundam).

Well last night I played all 3 games for 2 hours (most spent on Fed vs Zeon).

The Arcade portion of Fed vs Zeon holds up alright. I think my main issues is the boost is too short (on double taps) & the VO for every **** time I press a button is just horrible. Specially since it's usually the same ****ing sample every time ("Too slow!", Uggg). I also put some time into the mission mode. It's Ok but no where as good as the PSP games. I'm not fully sure but it also feels like the Gundams control differently. Like more analog-ish then the arcade mode, even when played with the d-pad. I'll have to play it some more this week.

Encounters in space is not bad. It kind of feels like i'm playing a on rails shooter but with Gundam. I didn't get too far since I got confused on how I was suppose to take down a specific zeon fight at the start of the game.

Zeonic Front is a bit of a surpise. I actually like it. The game is a lot more slower pace then others but the tactile feel of taking down a unit is much better and the effects are quite nice. There is also this whole route planner that you get to setup before missions that is pretty cool. I definitely think I am going to put more time into this game over the weekend (I have a lot of free time this weekend).

I'm also going to start building my tree graph this weekend. Does anybody have any ideas what might be a good program to use to build a graphical graph/time line with? Would anybody recommend Viso (I have office 2010)?

    --edit--
DOE!!!!! I forgot Monday is a holiday. THREEEEE DAY WEEKEND!!!!!!!!!! *dances* =)

I always wanted to play encounters in space. So it's like a rail shooter? that's pretty cool

It's not fully a rail shooter but it gives the feel of a rail shooter. Like you don't have free movement out on your own but you can control what to lock onto and when you lock on someone you head in that direction but moving the analog is like playing a rail shooter like starfox where you're just moving around the screen only.

It's really strange when I first played it. I'm going to put some more time into it this weekend.

One cool part about the game is it's full of options. They all play roughly the same but follow the story from a different perspective. Here is what the manual list.

    Game Modes:
White Base - It is the year 0079. Experience the battles of Amuro Ray, the Federation's legendary mobile suit pilot.
Thoroughbred: The battles of the Thoroughbred, the 16th Autonomous Corps in the One Year War.
Ace Pilot: Experience the fierce battles of the ace pilots from 0079 and 0083.
Mission: Train your own pilot by selecting eight combat missions.
Versus: 1 Player and 2 Player(1-3 man team formation) versus mode. Characters from Mission Modes can also be used.

Actually I'm curious, would anybody be interested in PDF that contain full box art & manual scans of all the games I can get my hands on?

My Gundam Collection grew a crap ton recently. Here is all what I got

    PSP:
    Gundam Vs Gundam

    DS:
    Gundam Seed 00

    Arc:
    GvG software (256)
    Z Gundam (246)
    Z Gundam DX (246)
    Zaft (246)
    Zaft 2 (246)

Not gundam related but I also got Soul Calibur 2 kit for really cheap.
And with that, I am off buying gundam related stuff till next year. Only exception is getting my hands on a Sys256 Motherboard so I can play GvG (I grabbed it early since it was cheap).

I got all the Gundam arcade software at once since it would be cheaper (less fees + low price). So far it ran me $110ish. Once you factor fees and shipping it will probably be more towards $160 but that's fine. Still really cheap for 5 games.

I think next year if I get the chance to go to Japan, I will probably pick up a bulk of the PS2 games then.

How do you run the Arc. games? In a cab or connected to some monitor?

While I don't have the games yet (just won them this morning). to play them I need a Namco System 246 arcade board (*) and a cabinet or supergun. I personally own a Capcom Impress JPN Candy arcade cab. I have it setup at work so I can just play them on that. I'll take pictures of it later today running the Fed vs Zaft software I have. =)

(*) For Sys246 boards. The SC2 I just recently bought got dropped off today by the seller (he was in the neighborhood anyways and it would have been the same then dropping it off at post). I actually am at the moment looking at Sys256 boards that are on yahoo. Why? Gundam Vs Gundam (& GvG Next) requires a 256 to run (it's a 246 but with faster cpu/gpu). They are actually bc with all sys246 software.

Ah, look forward to the pictures.

Having a cab like that around at home to play with friends would be a lot of fun probably

Only if you have visitors. I never do which is why the cab always ends up at work for what ever studio I work for. For when it was sitting at home, my wife was always trying to get me to sell it.

    =)

=( No Gundam pics today. I couldn't get Zaft to boot. The game kept waiting on a multiplayer connection then would jump into the service mode. I tried setting it to single player only but it would still do the same. I'm going to contact the guy I bought it from to see if he has any ideas.

It's possible my 246 can't run zaft due to no com card but i've seen the game run on Sys246 Rev B board (which is what I have).

I also wasted over an hour trying to get SC2 running to only realize the problem was my CRT brightness level was too low (had this issue in the past and felt deja vu but couldn't remember what the problem was in the past). =P
