So if I've already downloaded the video channel and that Excitebike and Pokedex, I'm covered then? Neat. Now comes the waiting.
I think the iPad and iPhone (now androids too) have a huge amount of portable gaming power now as the games are much cheaper. Doesn't surprise me at all... 3D really doesn't improve the games, though its quite cool sometimes.
The original Xbox's price was dropped as a direct counter to Sony's PS2 price adjustment. Sony got scared and blinked first. The DC saw faster and more aggressive price cuts shortly after its launch if you want a more relevant example.
They didn't need to drop the price so much as put out titles people would have bought the system for. Horrible set of launch titles not a single one worth buying the system over.
Shit, right after E3 I made it clear that the only way nintendo could counter the PSV was by droping the price to, yep, $170. Lets be honest here, even at $200 it was a scam, specially with the portable on steroids that its the PSV: a quad core ARM A9 when most smartphones still come with single core A8s... Still not getting one, I'm waiting for either good games that justify its existence OR the 3DSlite with a less eye-cancer-inducing screen...
I'd say that the biggest pitfall the 3DS has is the battery life. Didn't even N's Top guy say that anything below 5 hours or something was useless as a portable gaming device, and then a week later they announce the 3DS's 3.5... now that interview seems to have disappeared.... That and Joe consumer can't at first glance tell the difference between the DS and 3DS. Often times in a consumers minds there has to be something instantly visual to justify the purchase. That's why Blu-rays come in their distinctive cases- they say "HEY! We're different!" They could have packaged them in normal DVD cases or blue DVD cases, but the case itself communicates the idea of existing tech, not new. No matter what the 3DS can do, the package it comes it, at first glance, says "existing tech". Just my thoughts.
Honestly this also proves nintendo really is betting on this thing. I don't think they want make another portable atm.
Meh, Wario Ware, Metroid Fusion and Mario vs. DK are good, but Super Circuit isn't, and I can't get excited about the zillions of ports, like Yoshi's Island, that plagued the GBA library.
http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/...takes-pay-cut-in-wake-of-3ds-39-troubles.aspx Iwata is taking a 50% paycut because of this. Nintendo, This is why I buy from you, if you're a big enough man to want to see something succeed and loose over $1million in the process, You're a bigger man then me.
I don't think Nintendo is actually a 'man'. Also Sony and Microsoft spend a hell of alot more than $1million on their consoles. (Think billions) -adrianc
Not important, but I read on twitter that the NES games might be the GBA ports, and that when they hit the virtual console store, they will be changed for real NES roms.
A new 3DS doesnt necessarily means a smaller unit, it could have a better 3D screen that doesnt gives you headaches, let alone a bigger battery that lasts longer. A capacitive screen that doesnt gets scratched by air let alone touching it would be great too, but its almost impossible that nintendo will add this
