On the 3900x models, CX is SSCLK1_B on the "SS-BUS CONTROLLER IC501" pin #143 or "CD/DVD DSP IC605" pin#175. Same goes for 3000x models

I just wonder if ext osc is necessary at all on a 12F629 in this case.

I think I'm sticking with this one. Just tried MM3 and it booted but got the "Software Terminated" message LOL. I'm gonna try this on my old psx and see if it also works there.

The 12f629 has an internal clk of 4mhz but can operate up to 20mhz. The internal clk seems to be sufficient in 4 wire setups, I suppose if u wanted a faster chip u could input an external clk signal but I'm not sure what hz the ps2 'CX' point sends out as it is used for the modbo chip not the psx chips. As for the Mm3, it is designed to 'chop' off the A, E or I in the string and insert its own, this would require the 'gate' pin. Also I'm not sure if it keeps sending it goes to sleep, so maybe some games would fail when looking for the string again after a few minutes. I'm sure a quick recoding would sort this and allow it to work on ps2 but Apexseal's old crow mod seems to work very well.

mayumi 4 is using the actual console clk. and its superior of the mm3. its 8 wire instalation
it mention here by @Mord.Fustang http://assemblergames.com/l/threads/ps1-mayumi-4-0-12f683-12f675-12f629.54179/page-2

MM and stealth chips use the memory card signal to go to sleep (I think). I tested the MM3 just for fun, it got detected by NBA Shootout 2001 at the loading screen after the intro video. It seems MM3 sends the whole string:
    lines
    addwf PCL,F
    dt 'S','C','E','A' ;North American

i thing mm change mode after reset pressings it needs different stealth mode for some games. but turns out the mayumi is better for stealth purposes.

I would like to thank Mord.Fustang for porting the 750x code to 12F629/75/83 in the first place. I would not have gotten interested if it would not have for him. BTW I got Mayumi4 to boot using int osc. But still got the message... I think that for it to work the same delays that I used between strings would have to be used. Although I tried the ascii version and did not work like the raw code in Old Crow's which is the method I'm using. Man Old Crow is still the man, who would have thought such an old code could work for this. My PS2 is complete, psx backups direct boot, psx originals direct boot, ps2 backups direct boot with FMCB and PS2 originals in normal mode. BTW I got Double Dragon (Jap) to boot with this code. Gonna try another jap game to confirm.

I got these pinouts so far:
Mayumi4 (Boots via USB if internal clk is used but fails in antimod games)
    1- 5V
    2- MCLK - CLK
3- XLT - Pulses low after each cmd
    4- RST
5- WFCK - This is where the signal gets interrupted.
6- CEI (DATA) - "SCEX" Point
7- DOOR - Detects the door (LOW WHEN CLOSED)
    8- GND

Old Crow 5 and 6 Wire (same code as latest USB posted)
    1- 5V
2- I would assume is ext CLK. (Mayumi is MCLK but Stealth 2.8 is memory card activity detection for stealth)
    3- Not used
    4- RST
    5- WFCK Also???
    6- CEI (DATA) - " SCEX" Point
    7- Not Used
    8- GND

Old Crow USB MOD or 4 Wire internal for PS2 (To me the easiest way to go is USB)
    1- 5V
3- ****(Optional) LED + 220ohm Resistor to GND (Optional)****
4- RST (Jumpered with pin 1 to detect the button)
6- CEI (DATA) - Internal "SX" -> USB Jumper
    8- GND

mayumi 4 never fail for antimod games in psx (not my experience the antimod isnt triggered on pal consoles but i have read about it. and its far better from mm) probably the signal frequencys are different in ps2 thats why mayumi is fail. also have you try to remove the capacitor the one between leg 6 and sx just for test. anyway here a pic of mayumi 4 for psx 750x maybe will help
