I am not doing a full Mayumi install, I am doing a usb install, I just program the chip and place it in the socket. I am just testing the capabilites of all the chips that I can while maintaining a 4 wire (3+1jumper) usb install...

I bet if I install the one I'm using on one of the psx's I have laying around It will work with only 4 wires.

I also bet that if I do a full Mayumi install on a PS2 an add a switch it should also work. Having the service manuals along with the modbo points identified should make it easier. I might try it one of these days just for kicks.

I identified them using the 900x and PSOne diagrams since I have those service manuals also. But thanks anyways! You're always there to help my friend I really appreciate that. My conclusion right now is the thing we have is way better than MM and Mayumi if using a PS2 with only one jumper wire.

Well guys I hope this works for everybody. This is the one I've been testing, like always remember it is tested on an old SCEA console with crappy media. Give it a shot and let me know, I hope I did not mess up the SCEA and SCEE parts.... LOL
For 12F683 - 12F620 - 12F675 both SCEE/SCEA region specific hex. Don't forget to jumper legs 1 and 4... You can also add the led if you wanna make it go blinky blinky LOL...

mmm too bad the ntsc-u antimod isnt triggered on pal consoles only people with ntsc-u ps2 can give a valid feedback.

Thank you Apexseal and Mord Fustang for all your effort. This has grown so much from Mord's Mayumi port :p.

I will be trying Apexseal's final Old Crow reboot as soon as my new pci serial card arrives (new comp doesn't have native serial port :(). Sorry, not able to give valid feedback as I live in a PAL region.

This is probably the best option for booting backup psx games available on PS2 without installing a Modbo. Maybe in future, stealth mod chips could be fully ported to ps2 (MM3, Mayumi, Stealth 2.8, choose your poison). But I doubt there will be any added advantage other than sleep mode/ laser preservation, and would need to be a full install rather than convenient 4 wire install.

Again, well done to the efforts of everyone involved.

Thanks! Whenever you guys get the chance to try it please let me know if it is only me that needs to turn off and on again if it does not boot. This PS2 is pretty banged up so I don't know if it something in the code or if it is the console itself.

I totally understand you... I was not so lucky, when I upgraded everything I had to get rid of my good old superpro2000 and buy me a superpro5000e which uses the USB port. For these small projects I just use the TL866 which is very cheap and supports a whole bunch of chips. It does the 12Fxxx in less than 4 seconds LOL...

The second to last version I posted turns itself off after game has booted it should be perfect for your region and laser preservation since you guys don't have mod-detection.

The last one I posted keeps going but even though it does not stop, the rate it sends the strings is 95% (literally 95%) less stressing than everything else that has ever been created for 4 wires. It does the same job as the stealth since it does not get detected (so far LOL) and only with 4 wires. It boots Dino Crisis which other chips had "Dino Modes", it even works with Grind Session and Spyro3 which are two tough cookies.

So the best two versions are the two latest ones.
1- The first turns off completely after the game has booted so it should be perfect for SCEE consoles since the mod-detection is not there. And also good for people who don't mind patching the 12 or 20 NTSC(U)anti-mod games that exist out there.

2- The very last version does not turn itself off but boots all anti-mod games tested and left running for hours (still need NTSC(U) testers). Still very smooth since I decreased the string send rate by 95%

I really need NTSC(U) testers so I can put this thing to rest LOL...

dvd reading issue is not a problem just buy a network adapter (make sure is a genuine one cause a lot of fakes are out) grab and ide hdd and simply play all your game using opl or hdl from your hdd (thats the way i deal with my fat 50004 it doesnt read dvd like yours)

I know what you mean. When I first flashed a hex to 12fxxx i was like.... did that work? I had been used to flashing 16mb Nand chips on Xbox 360 via SPI. Used to take 7 mins o_O

I was interested in your final code because I mainly used to play multidisc RPG from back in the day. These were unavailable in UK ie Breath of Fire III, Star Ocean Second story, so I had my psx chipped with an Old Crow chip back in 1997, good times.

This would need a disc swap ability which would be lost if the chip went to sleep.

There's no reason why a stealth chip cant be installed, as the ps2 switches to psx circuitry to run psx games. But u would need to wire all 7/8 wires for it to work in it's present state. We know where to get 5v, GND, DATA, RST, thanks to Modbo install diagrams. but u would need to work out where to find GATE, EJECT and maybe OSC.
