It's a shame the SNES and N64 never got real addons featuring cheap mass storage. :O I've always thought add-ons were cool. The Genesis + 32X + Sega CD is quite interesting, although huge and a bit of a pain in the ass. It would have been nice to see it's potential truely realized. Meaning real Sega 32X CD games. Not damn FMV games enhanced by the 32X. But to actually see like a Castlevania game using the advantages of the 32X and the Sega CD.

it still wouldnt fit the Wii's over-all design and compliment it the way the BSX/PSX, 64DD and GBplayer do (even FDS)

EGM actually had pictures of the Super Famicom CD rom system cartridge in one of their issues at around the time, and it was a pic of the proper cartridge, as NCl showed the system cartridge at a japanese press event.

It looked like the Famicom disk system cartridge, only bulkier, but the same idea. even had picture of the cabling coming out of the back of it. I think it was shown in famitsu and other japanese magazines too, but not alot of people have the issue, or seen the picture, I had the issue, but it got lost the last time I moved, something that really annoys me, as the picture has never resurfaced on the net again. I'm sure it was EGM that was the englsih mag that had the picture of the finished system cartridge, but it was so long ago, it might have been another mag from around that time, or one of my japanese magazines, but it definetly had picture of the finshed cart as shown by nintendo.

One of these things had to have existed at some time.

Imagine how much one of these would be worth if it were to pop up somewhere... *Starts drooling*

If you read back, you'll see that there IS at least one prototype and it HAS turned up.

Value.... well, you can't do anything with it, so not a lot!

Are you kidding? A SNES CD unit would go for thousands on ebay, easily. It's a Holy Grail for a lot of people.

No I'm not kidding. It's a box that doesn't do anything.

A working one would go for thousands, sure.

The last time a SNES CD control pad turned up on ebay, it was going for something like $3k. You'll have to forgive me for being suspicious that a SNES CD unit -mockup or otherwise- would go for less.

Wasn't that BuyAtari's? And wasn't it a case of he thought he'd put it on to see if someone would pay a ludicrous price, but didn't really want to get rid of it? And I don't think anyone bought it.

Sure, you can PUT something on eBay for a stupid price. Doesn't mean someone will pay it. Look at the M2 dev units. People are up in arms that one sold as high as it did recently and spamming the eBay thread with their protests. That's a WORKING machine, though. You can get games for it. And yet people think that it was too much.

OK, so a SNES CD is rarer - but not by much, really. The M2 is more useful. Sure, it would probably sell fairly high for novelty (i.e. poser lol) value.

A SNES CD would be quite an item and although you couldn't do much if anything with it i still think it would be worth a fair price and there is bound to be someone who'd pay anything to have one if one came up somewhere.
