The one in question that turned up in the auction should in theory work, although if I remember correctly it was missing something. Sofware being one missing ingredient! lol.

Sure, I know for a fact there are at least 2 SNES CD units out there, perhaps even a third.

Of course, if someone has a SNES CD game and can run it, that's cool. And it's totally up to them if they want to keep it under lock and key and not disclose any information. I can understand and respect that. However, unless they want to offer some proof that it exists, I will choose to be skeptical about that and not believe it. They have every right not to show it off, naturally, but I'll exercise my right not to believe them without proof.

Pfft, I have a SNES CD system too, with 12 games. I found it in the middle of the highway. Must have fell off a truck.

I don't know about you guys but the "SNES CD" doesn't really interest me much at all since even if some prototype exists, the system never really did. There is no game library, it didn't happen. I'm sure there are lots of franken-hardwaredesigns out there and I don't find them interesting.

What would be more interesting is someone designing their own SNES CD sytem that actually works and that anyone could design their own games for. It would actually be useful then.

True, WK... at first noone had found the games and it seemed the only thing you'd find to run on it were those car showroom demos!

Well, there's no accounting for what people will spend obscene amounts of on, eh? ;-)

But anyone can say they would spend X amount, but do they really have that money to back the claim, and would they really go through with it? I have doubts about that.

I offered 5k years ago for the SNES CD and was turned down.

There ARE working prototype games for it. BTW

Which is a different matter... the matter of what people WILL pay and the point at which the owner would ACCEPT the offer ;-)

    Basically, they're not going anywhere.

There are a handful of working systems that are in Sony executives office that resemble what a finished retail kit would look like. They were initial factory tooling prototypes (not the unit that has been photographed a miilion times that is a DEV KIT, not a prototype retail kit).

That's not the one that was at CGE, then.

Nice to see Jet-X has emerged from the woodwork again ;-)

I'd love to see some real SNES-CD software running. It would be interesting to see if the hardware really did improve on what the SNES could do other than offering more space.

 It was more of a smack to the PC Engine :110: The Mega CD did at least add graphical effects and video to the Mega Drive. As far as I know the PC Engine CD Drives are just used for more storage space and CD audio. I don't even think there's a PC Engine CD game that has video footage.

PS: I think I've mentioned before that I was always more fond of the Super Famicom than the Mega Drive. Both are fantastic systems mind you.

atomlol..but in contrary the PC Engine CD-ROM Add-on came years earlier, but had a big success and big games and big everything, while the MEGA-CD had not. so who smacked now who exactly

btw. ever heard of the jawesome HU-VIDEO ;)

    greets tatsu

btw. i agree, both are fantastic, but one was even more fantastic and that one ruled over those two and the whole 16-bit age :D

Technicaly, yes. And for what it was it was a fantastic system. Many games that were on both the PC Engine and Mega Drive turned out better on the PC Engine but then again many did turn out better on the Mega Drive. Owning both plus a Super Famicom is pure gaming heaven if you ask me.

even the more striking, it hited the 1 year later released mega drive and the over 3 years later released SFC into the ground with ease! not?

btw: its sheer incredible high graphic output power was pure 16bit ;)

@yakumo. so agreeing on that :!:

owning all is a must for retro players, but there can be only one on the top

ok, about the 2nd and 3rd place, we could argue now :110:
