Yes, according to the seller he used to play it with his son a lot. It stopped working after what he recalls as a firmware upgrade, although he wasn't too sure about the details. If I remember correctly it worked on retail, not debug units. I got a modded launch console, no idea about FW. Thought I was gonna test it in that one when I have the time. Not sure if the mod chip allows multiple regions, or if xbox games are even region locked.
They are region locked. Like I said earlier, Ive never heard of a firmware update killing things. Looks like it is probably a final or final-ish version, which is always fun.
Damn you did get some nice shit. That case! I found one like that recently but it was purely green instead of orange cost me £1 with a huge strap on it. Now I know where it came from.
I would be awfully interested in finding out exactly what that Deus Ex "Beta Press Demo" is. Granted, this disc seems to have been made for release only a few weeks before the game's launch date, but I'd be curious to know if there's anything different on it. The original demo for the game only comprised the first two missions (Liberty Island/Hell's Kitchen). I wonder if that's the same content as what's on here. One of my "holy grails" is to find a copy of the game that has the missing "Mission 13" that's absent from the level order in the cheat menu. Some believe it might have been the "underwater L.A. exploration" level.
Alex: is that something I can check simply by looking at the contents of the discs or would I actually have to install and run the game? The latter I don't have much time for right now :/
Need to use @ for the tags to work I think. It's a comment directed "at <username>". Good idea about asking about friends/colleagues who might be interested to sell. Talked with him again today and since shipping the package he managed to dig out a large stack of discs and will continue looking for more. The current stack was mostly early versions of Microsoft Links though... lol, a proto is a proto though! We'll see what more stuff turn up.
There is one thing you would need to do when you install the game, same as the retail disc. Go into the main DeusEx directory, open the User.ini file (it should open with Notepad), scroll down to the place where it says "T=", and write in "Talk" after it. This opens cheat functionality in-game. When you install it, try running the cheat command first (Set DeusEx.JCDentonMale bCheatsEnabled True) and then type in "legend" secondly. That should bring up a cheat menu. If it does appear, open up the first option ("Load Map") and see if there's anything listed for Mission 13.
That would require me to install the game first and get it to run in a win 8/10 environment. Usually that can be a time consuming process. If so this will have to wait.
Sorry, I was being too complicated (and a bit stupid) for my own good. If it's like the retail disc, there should be a "Maps" directory that can be searched from the disc. Don't worry if you can't find anything. The existence of this is fascinating to me. Also curious as to what's on the preview disc.
Very interesting. If you have the time, it would be great if you could check what Maps are on each disc (doing so does not require installation). Knowing what maps have been ported will indicate the build of the disc. Empty maps can be ignored.
That Re-Volt Xbox version looks very interesting. Big fan of the N64 and Dreamcast versions...I wonder how the Xbox version improves on them. Awesome finds, btw
You can check out a leaked version of Revolt built from the source, or videos of other builds that Ive made too. Always neat to have one more which should work on retail kits. Im actually surprised it got that far to be honest, as I hadnt heard of it being one of the titles that got a retail pressed version.
As for Deus Ex the MAPS folders were almost identical unfortunately. I'm guessing this is more or less retail. Demo Maps: http://pastebin.com/3UU4wJ1n Preview Maps: http://pastebin.com/hEJzs6ZB Note: the demo.txt/preview.txt files are from my cmd command ("dir > filename.txt") and are not part of the actual files on the disc.
Tested Halo 2 CD-R disc. Needed product key to install. Didn't accept retail key. Doesn't matter though as it seems it is multiplayer. There should be more data on the disc though as it is 317mb in size. Seems to be from 13.08.2003. From the Readme: Build Features: Like the Beta 1.5 refresh, Beta 2 is a multiplayer-only build. It contains three maps: Blood Gulch, Gephyrophobia, and Timberland. As we enter the final weeks of the beta program, it is critical that we receive as much feedback as possible, so we ask you to please play online frequently, as soon as you have received the CD.
Beta 2 CD-R and the Microsoft disc were the same one so the CD-R went in the trash. As for the Markering Beta it seems to be from 7th of August 2003. It is 410mb. Readme just contains the words "Readme" and the install doesn't require a CD-Key. Installer doesn't look finished:
Not retail from the looks of that photo. "XDK Launcher". Awesome find! I'll pester you with a PM shortly. Haha.
