Why are more people (in general, not necessarily on ASSEMbler) talking about Amy Winehouse and not the horrifying events that took place in Norway? I only knew one song by her, 'Rehab', and I honestly couldn't stand it. I can't feel bad for a rich drug addict when kids are being shot.
people die. *that was directed towards Amy, not Norway. And perhaps I should have said, People dead. In keeping with the topic title.
I asked myself the same thing and was about to make a thread about it. Don't you know that other song where she wants her friend "Valerie" to come over?
Sure, she's a drug addict and she had to know that what she was doing would eventually kill her someday. But in contrary to useless existences like Paris Hilton, Amy Winehouse was actually talented and was productive when she happened to be sober enough to work. That's why this is one of the few times that I feel the urge to post into such a thread, there's a difference between what she did and what stupid crackwhores like Lady Gaga do.
Lady Gaga isn't a stupid Crackwhore..I don't even think she does drugs. For that matter I hear nothing but nice things about her as a person. Now was Amy Whinehouse talented? YES Should we mourn her? NO I don't mourn addicts that bring it on themselves
I'm probably just mad at her because she makes so much money with her garbage quality noise that some deaf people refer to as music.
To this, I say "Everything in moderation" For those that say "Good" or "I have no sympathy", she was an addict. She brought it upon herself ultimately, but addiction is a disease. Anyone that doesn't feel sad for someone that dies from a disease needs a reality check.
Valerie was a cover of a Zutons song released like a year before and then remixed for her by Mark Ronson. It's pissing me off that they keep playing her version everywhere. It's a shame she died but like many have said she had plenty of money and opportunity to pull her out of her little drug hole.
You can't smoke crack 'in moderation', nor can you mainline heroin or wash down handfuls of barbiturates like they're M&M's with a litre or two of Vodka a day. Your average Joe doesn't go to Jamaica for 3 weeks to scout out recording studios and accidentally smoke a grands worth of crack a day now, do they? One thing that really pisses me off though is when people call drug addiction or alcoholism diseases. They aren't, never have been, never will be. T.B is a disease, as are Cholera, Diphtheria, Measles, Mumps, Malaria or Ebola etc. A disease is something that is either caught through contact with infected or contaminated people, food or water or it is a genetic/congenital defect that affects entire generations of families like heart disease, diabetes, kidney/liver problems or certain forms of cancer. You can't catch alcoholism and you don't inherit heroin addiction, these things are purely and plainly self inflicted. And before anyone says ''what about babies born that way to junkie mothers?'' that's a different subject entirely. As for saying unsympathetic people need a reality check, the people in real need of a reality check are the ones who can't take the flack for being a fuck up and have to look elsewhere to apportion blame for their own selfish shortcomings. Disease my arse, just another fucking scapegoat.
Oh, I didn't know that, and because as you said they only play her version everywhere I falsely attributed it to her. I stand corrected.
I just read this headline from E!Online.com Weekend Wrap-Up: Amy Winehouse Dies, Captain America Battles Harry Potter, Comic-Con Scoop That's it I guess.
I admit I may murder somebody if I hear Born this way again. But I do like Lady Gaga. Of course I won't demand other people like her like.....the most hated person on the internet (Jared Milton)
Lady gaga is super overrated... her music is not that good, and her voice is also average. The only reason why she's where she is now is her outrageous performances and clothing style, along with her hair and make up. I've read somewhere recently that she uses the wigs and over the top make up to compensate for the fact that she has lupus and her general state is pretty beat. The same article also said that she has weight issues, having been on the verge of anorexia and obsessed with her calorie intake; and also that she's doing drugs. What part of this can be believed, I don't know. But anyone trying THAT hard to get attention has definitely got some serious issues.
You know I could argue all day about Gaga but I'm not a big enough fan to waste my time sticking up for her. People can love her, people can hate her whatever. But at least she isn't another run of the mill manufactured auto tuned pop star
