Yeah, I understand your point. I believe the same. The media make scandals out of everything, and yes, coverage is unfair. And I do not believe you are wrong. I think the same way as you. What I'm saying is that the internet tough guy mentality of "good, serves her the fuck right for being a drug addict, I'm much better than that and I'm not afraid of death because I'm perfect" is a bit annoying. It's just a way of... maybe protecting one's own image. "She deserved to die because she's irresponsible" is not a way to talk about someone who died, whether she was a hobo, drug addict, meth-whore, or an innocent two year old. I'm not saying we should all boo-hoo over the obituaries like the spineless liberal pansy weakling hippiess we are (I myself would be glad to read Ann Coulter's obituary, or about someone setting all mexican politicians on fire). Or maybe I'm not as manly as others. Who knows. I'm saying the "serves her right" attitude is just a way of thinking we're better than her, and we're not. We're all humans and we'll all die somehow - maybe we take a wrong step on the stairs, step on the soap in the shower, or our lack of a vegetable-rich diet kills us of a stroke at 49. And well, it's sad because we're all humans.
I wasn't saying she "deserved it" or anything at any point, it's just annoying to see all the sudden publicity and praise for her after years of complete irrelevance. Although...how many times do we really have to see rich people fucking up their privileged lives before we lose all sympathy?
Yes, that is indeed annoying. I wonder how many people die in her situation and are ignored, and they too are sad as fuck. That, I understand, sir.
STAR OF JACKASS DIES DOING SOMETHING STUPID. AMY WINEHOUSE DIES OF DRUG OVERDOSE. Man, 2011 celebrity deaths are so boring and expected...2009 was a crazy year with Billy Mays dying of Coke overdose...
I can't explain it with words, but thinking about the position that I'm in, I cannot respect that opinion whatsoever.
