There was already another model released. No reason for 3 revisions. This is Nintendo we're talking about.
could be the site trying to drum up traffic but its possible nothing new for game companies, could be more compact without disc drive or gamecube support, digital only distribution for example. makes it more portable quieter and possibly more reliable also alot cheaper to manufacture and distribute. also may not be designed for mainstream markets prehaps developing markets but yeah nothing new sony do it, microsoft try to do it sega done it, apple do it constantly and at nausium with everything. but it is just a roumer if they can turn a profit on it and get rid of old stock such as wii remotes sensor bars then why not. why would anyone in their right mind buy a wii mini? well $£$£$£'s for starters as the wii U isn't exactly affordable for everyone right away, also the games catalogue and e-shop / wii ware etc etc. not saying i think its a good idea just that its plausable they done it with the handheld's the DS, gameboy etc.
it does seem possible look at how many DS models were made LOL i guess we will have to wait till Nintendo confirms or denies this rumor
I came here to say this. They already castrated the wii with its 2nd incarnation. What are they going to do with this one to "Save money"?
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-11-27-nintendo-wii-mini-leaked-by-retailer WHAT. IT'S TRUE!? maybe.
prob $149 in Australia or something like that if its legit and makes it here sorta confirmed on Canada best buy > http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/home.as...aspx?ci_src=11138&ref=39&CJPID=4003003&loc=01 <<< Now awaiting Nintendo to confirm this
i hate the tax just as much as i hate the 2nd iteration of the wii ( THEY TOOK THE GAMECUBE GUTS OUT CURSE THEM ) however the mini if it takes disc looks like a reasonable console if the price is right
http://www.nintendo.com/wiimini?country=CA&lang=en/ I guess they managed to increase the profit margin on the hardware over what the Wii was making even this far down the line, hadn't been a major revision to the system in awhile so makes sense considering it's still selling reasonably well. Looks to be pretty damn small though, haven't yet seen a comparison shot but it looks like it's basically just the size of a disc On the bottom right is an open button, suggesting it's a top-loading device. The Wii Mini does not feature the Wii's Wi-fi capabilities. Futureshop says because of this it does not connect to the internet and, as a result, does not support online features in games or the eShop. It is not compatible with GameCube games. The GameCube controller ports and memory slots have been removed.
Wii Mini is available exclusively in Canada during the holiday season. No information is available about its potential availability in other territories in the future. Remember that Wii Mini features parental controls that let adults manage the content their children can access. For more information about this and other features, visitnintendo.com/wiimini. ugh ? come on nintendo !
It will be the first Wii you can successfully cram completely up your ass and remain fully functional, so long as you stuff a battery pack up there as well.
