THIS DAMN PSPS ARE SOO DAMN DEFECTIVE!!!. So i go happy to buy a psp to target, i see about 20 of them so i ofcouse buy one, but in the car i notice 1 dead pixel, so i go an exchange it and they give me another one and what do i see? 2 dead pixels, so i go back and the managar is like f u kid! we aint giving j00 another one so they refound my money, then i go to best buy, buy another one and what do i see? 3 fucking dead pixels.... fcuk it i am going to exchange it tomorrow and if the piece of shit has 1 dead pixel i am going to return it and FUCK YOU PSP.
lol, the target i worked at had a bunch of stock, only 1 sold when i arived, then 2 sold when i was on my lunch, when i clocked out at 7 less then half were sold, needless to say people were steadily buying it, however it sucks to hear about the dead pixal, paying $250 youd expect perfection, but i hear its pretty tough to get lcd screens perfect, too bad sony isnt like nintendo, exchanged my ds twice with nintendo and the second ds i received was perfect and i never had problems since. Hope you find a perfect one though, ncsx found that 2 out of the 3 they tested had dead pixals with only one perfect.
Is it just me, or are these things just not selling as well as everyone thought? Each store I went to today had 10+ of the systems in stock...
I don't know how it's selling, but damn I saw thirty guys at work with those things today. I felt left out. Never knew it was so thin by the way.
I almost bought one today from my local EB during my lunch break. I think i'm glad I didn't because I started finding all these stories of dead pixels everywhere. I think i'm going to give them a few weeks to try and sort this mess out and see what Sony is going to do about it. I've never had a lcd device with dead pixels before, my gameboys and pocketpcs have always been fine. There's no excuse for faulty hardware from Sony.
The screen is not made by Sony. It's made by Sanyo if i'm not mistaken. This problem happens on Nintendo DS, GameBoy Advance and any type of hardware that use these kinds of screens. I"m not saying you should not blame Sony about this problem, as it's their responsability to fix it or give you a new one, but bashing Sony won't solve your problem. Honestly i'm tired of reading stuff like: "I hate Sony" , "Microsoft sucks", "Shitty Nintendo"... This is making me (and i think a lot of people) tired of the gaming community. I would suggest you to come to live down here, where you need to buy overpriced stuff all the time, you have no support from the companies (even with Sony and Microsoft being represented down here). If my PS2 dies on me, i'll have to pay for it to be fixed, while you just need to ship it to Sony. Nowadays nothing is made to last forever. Everybody have problems with cellphones, sound systems, cars, TVs, computers,... Why a new gadget using a type of screen know to have a percentage of problems would be different? PS: Sorry about the rant, but i'm just tired of reading the same thing all over the place. You feel deceived? Sue Sony. (It would probably be better than complaining and not getting anything from it).
well thats called consumer impressions. If you buy a Ford and it's a piece of shit, you probably wont run to the front of a line to buy another one. People that had ps2's break and stop working one day will obviously see sony as having shitty systems no matter who's fault it is. Sony plasters their name on these, not the companies that make screens or drives. Sony should deal with it. Even before the psp came out people were slamming it for battery life like Nintendo somehow had some magic formula to use for their DS that Sony doesnt. People laughed at the ejecting disk thing and even exaggerated it into it flying out at high speeds like a ninja star. All this shows people are skeptical of the level of quality sony puts out. It's nobody's fault but their own.
I totally agree with you. It's their fault. I understand the frustation of buying something brand new and being defective. The problem is that people complain about it only on message boards, instead of trying to get their consumer rights. We all know Sony and many other companies make products with low quality materials. Saying it out loud 1000 times more won't make their products better.
I'm going to get one, but not the first batch. Besides, recently Xbox found out that their first batch were defective, too! Its not just Sony thats having problems. My friend's GC also, just "stopped working", too. Not sure if it was his fault, or not, but according to the Xplay system durabilty test, GC is supposed to be the best, so I don't think he broke it. I think it messed up on its own. And what does it prove? The first batch of anything is probably defective! Besides I want to wait until the price is lowered to at least $100-$150.
you know i would imaigne the steep price tag is keeping alot of people away as well as far as getting it, but will see after a couple of weeks how this portable pans out, ds still has a little ways to go before it becomes a solid portable, depsite me owning one since crhistmass and being very satisfied im still waiting for the releases of good games to come out faster, in japan there seems to be games being released for it over ther at a faster rate, i hope they do bring that surgeon game and another code here. Well back to the point, we just got to wait and see how well this thing will do, as powerful as it is, its got its cons as it does it pros. It be intresting where sony will go with it after a month of release. Anyone know if best buy has this thing on demo, i wouldnt mind trying it out.
has anyone seen any commercials or ads for the psp? I've seen zero. I dont mean just in gaming mags, but on regular television. Since Sony mixed the bag with the psp with stuff like movie player and mp3 player, you'd think they'd advertise it more..or even some.
There are always going to be defective parts with any electronic device you buy, and there are a ton of people you can point fingers at - is it the LCD, or optical drive, or RAM manufacturer, for making subpar parts? Is it the company behind the system, for not testing the product thoroughly before it sells? The point is, there's lots of places you can look to find the cause of a problem in things like game consoles. I'm by no means one of those rabid anti-Sony fanboys - I bought my PSX refurbished from them six years ago and it hasn't given me a single problem. My PS2 I had for three years until it finally gave out on me, but the problem was something that was apparently there when I bought it (note to future consumers: if anyone at an EB Games store claims a system is refurbished, kick every salesclerk in the groin and spit in their eye. They're fucking lying to you). That being said, I've heard disturbingly large amounts of PSP hardware problems - be it dead pixels, drive doors that don't close smoothly (although few have managed to duplicate the videos that show a user launching an Unerring Malevolent Disc into the air) or square and right d-pad buttons that catch on the edge of the screen. It just seems to me that there's a LOT of something wrong with the PSP, moreso than what someone would call a 'reasonable' amount of defects. But now that Johnny Vodka mentions it, I've seen NOTHING in the way of advertisment for the PSP at all. I know the DS had some TV spots and such, and I've seen PSP ads in the Japanese TV shows that my roommate's parents record for her, but nothing here. It's almost like the PSP was sold on strength of word-of-mouth and hype from gaming magazines.
same here, though what i find odd is the fact that the way it is being advertise is in fact like a multimedia machine, its not even being advertised as a game machine at all, with franz ferdinad playing in the background it is mention to zip it up. Still Im shocked that i havent seen any kiosks at the target i work at, even then though, like i said after a month we will get a good idea of how the portable is going to pan out.
I agree with you Johnny except for the PS2 part. Sony deserves to be knocked and knocked hard for the DRE problem. They have had more that enough time to come up with a solution for this problem (and I don't consider the PSTwo a solution) but instead they choose to do the quick fix.
Complain about the choice of build quality sony wanted to use, complain about the design but come on complaining about a LCD screen having dead pixels?! Its like complaining to your holiday company because it rained! It cant be helped..! Now ill let you complain about what sony choose to do about it though!
