I've never seen a mobile phone with a dead pixel either. Paulo, what are you doing to these tft's eh :smt042
http://www.expansys.com.hk/forumthread.asp?code=NOKIA_9300&thread=6 brand new nokia phone (first one i saw on google that i knew the site). BTW Yakumo did u get that sony nw use Sanyo screens from what Jonny said? Cos hes not sure and i know They used Sharp screens! It was rumour they would use samsung come the us release!
First thing I would like to point out is that the pixel issue was a problem from day one in Japan. Not mentioned in this thread is Sony's policy on dead pixels Sony will not replace a PSP under warrenty with 5 or less dead pixels. If you open the PSP and the pixels are dead out of the box exchange it with the store you bought it from and if the store will not let you exchange it for a perfect PSP then demand your money back and buy it elsewhere. Note: What you will soon see as a result of this and as the numbers go up on returned units is a new store policy not to replace the PSP with dead pixels and this will come from Sony and you can count on that. We have been down this road before with computer LCD displays as well.
Yep. However i think samsung now have a 0 dead pixel policy for their monitors? (might not apply outside south korea though )
I'd say dead pixels in a screen so small is unacceptable. If a 19 inch samsung can be flawless, a tiny psp screen can be as well.
Realisticly the screen should have no dead pixals, im sorry but most devices ive used here in the U.S. or own that have lcd screens that dont have dead pixals. I always heard of dead pixals but never seen them happen until i hear about some import gba sp's having them from ncsx. Now mayb the gba itself had some but we didnt notcied since the screen was so dark, but i have never heard seen any of the previous gbs or gbas having dead pixals. The only time i ever experianced a dead pixal with an lcd screen was when i got my ds, even then the dead pixal didnt occur till afterwards, still nintendo under there warranty gave me a free exchange, as well as when the exchange unit had two dead pixals and screen felt week when it folded guess what, despite them slightly puzzled they stil gave me another, and guess what that one i currently have has no dead pixal or folding problems at all. Im sorry but it is sony responsibility to replace psp for a new one, especially if they are charging you $250. If your paying that price for a portable it better be damn close to perfect. Not only that but can you imagine how harder it is to have quality control on ds since it usese two screens? As for cell phone, the one i own has no dead pixals, as well as other cell phones i know people own. Even then I have a high quality flat screen monitor for my pc made by NEC that costed abotu $500-600 and guess what, it has no dead pixals. The thing is this, sure dead pixals can happen, but it should not happen at this rate, especialy if you are paying $250 for the damn thing, but im guessing it has to do with the fact sonys only way of doing it would just be exchanging you a new one, still they are obligated to do it, no matter what it is costing them. Though maybe the higher price for the U.S version stemmed from them including spiderman as well as fixing the square button lololol. Sony wont bother fixing them until their sued, just like they were with the DRE problem.
The screen of the PSP is made by Sharp. Sorry if i confused you guys. Anyway, Sony finally said something about the problem in USA: http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/03/25/news_6121092.html
BIG UPDATE!!! i went to best buy today and i told them what the deal was, we started opening psps and guess what? we opened 13 Pieces of Shit Portable and all had dead pixels! so i asked them when they would get a new shipment and they said next tuesday and they told me that i could use it until tuesday and come back to check for new psp , another lady also walked in and she had bought 2 psp for her kids and guess what? same deleo! this is just silly sony.
NEVER buy a sony console in the first 3 to 10 months and don't forget that obscure and far away video game stores owns consoles from the release date for a longer and undetermined time, depending on consumers's tastes and how much they are , so take precautions. This is a friendly advice based on my experiences and the ones of my friends.
Wow, I'm surprised they let you open that many. I want one a lot, looks hot, probably will play it all of 5 hours in total, but whatever. Maybe I should wait for the next batch...:smt1069
Not necessarily, I bought my GC on the day it came out, and it still works like a charm. For one minute, just think about the guy you are talking about. Don't point you finger and call people fanboys when you are the one who is quick to jump to Sony's defense. After all, 90% of the game stuff you own is Sony...
you know i gotta feeling this is mostly due to a rushed launch, cause sony was really trying hard to release a million units i belive, could be more, all i do know is that they had a alot more for release here then they did in japan. Plus a couple of U.S. launch titles got delayed since all the discs are manufacture in japan and not here as well as some games waitng for final aproval. Im guessing yakumos psps are from a second or third shipment of psps. You know its funny you mention that alien workshop since i have one from launch also and it has had no problems, yet i hear the newer game cubes seem to be having problems as well i also here there made cheaper, just pointing this out to be fair on the whole fanboy issue. As for the sony thing, its almost impossible to not have a sony made item in your house, i should know i have 3 cd players and 2 tvs, and a dvd player that are sony in my house(plus my ps2 with flip top), possibly you might include my snes/super fami since it has a sony chip for its sound
well if a rushed launch was to blame, which it could be part of the problem, then why has the ps2 been shit with DRE's in almost all their versions? My ps2 is a V5 and it had a DRE..and they are up to what..10 or higher? Sony just builds cheap shit. Again, this goes back to impressions. I have a launch xbox and it still works perfectly. My GC is not a launch console, but it's also not brand new..again, works fine. I've actually never had a console just break..other than the ps2. I'm not saying all Sony products are shit, just that the ones that are make a deeper impression. I'll check out the psp later since it really does look slick as hell, but I just dont want to feel like I wasted my money.
