The plugin allows native use of the site on mobile devices. All you do is upload a folder to the web server. Simple to install and makes using the site on a phone much better.

    Thanks

i hate all those mobile phone versions of sites. That's why I use the Mercury browser on my iPhone. Not only does it give true full screen unlike that crap Opra but also tricks web sites in to thinking you are browsing using either FireFox, Internet Explorer or Chrom.

I can understand why some would like a mobile version of the site due to bandwidth issues but as for browsing j can't stand them.

So do I. But tapatalk isn't a "mobile version"

It's a native app for you phone and takes the text an formats it all properly. It's not a mobile skin

I've never had any issues with text formatting. This site looks just the same on my phone as it does on my PC. Sounds an interesting bit of software though.

    EDIT

Anyone using iPhone or iPad or even iPod should get themselves the Mercury Browser.

How empty do you guys life have to be that you can't wait a few hours or half a day until you get to a PC to browse a forum and do replies using a proper keyboard? There is such a thing as too much information. I can't think of any good reason why you need 24/7 access to assemblergames...

Replying to PM's when people are asking me questions about consoles I have modded for them.

People get irritable and I do not always have chance to get to a PC to reply in a timely manner- as I have a new born child.

However, my phone is with me all the time.

I do not appreciate your insults and assumptions about me or my lifestyle. Just because something isnt useful to you, doesnt mean it isnt to others or that your way is correct. Get off your high horse.

The phone is a very handy tool to access the net for many occasions when access to a PC isn't available. I normally surf the web during my down time in work or when I'm taking a dump. Yep, nothing better than to check emails and a bit of net while sitting on the bog.

The default Android browser does a pretty good job on this site, at least on my Samsung Captivate. Good sized screen with a good resolution.

It also allows you to change the user agent as to avoid mobile versions if you want.

using the full version is a pain on a mobile browser.

hitting the PM menus is a pain and so forth. I am capable of using a mobile browser and avoiding mobile versions. But tapatalk is just better.

I would also love to have tapatalk, it would make posting and sending messages so much easier.

I had a try of TapTalk on anither forum I'm a member of and have to say that I can see why people want it here due to the low bandwidth and quick loading but for me personally I didn't like it. I have no issues seeing the site as normal if I use the Mercury Browser which I using now plus we have a fast 3G network and real unlimited data use. If I use the default iPhone browser though, that's a different story altogether due to it's slow rendering and poor screen size viewing window for the actual pages.

Tapatalk or nothing tbh. Using a dedicated mobile browser just for this place is not worthwhile.

Ok, I am going to second that here again, since my requests seemed to be duplicate O:)

Please get us the plugin, it's easy to install (just upload) and than activate it via their website. 5 min max. No problem with upgrades. I run it myself on a board with 250.000 members and it works fine.

I vote against installing it, I presume at some point the forums will be upgraded to vBulletin 4? That comes with a FREE mobile skin, which works perfectly on all major mobile and tablet platforms, it can also be customised and themed.

Tapatalk will advertise its self to anyone who visits the site on a mobile browser, so why do free advertising for them? then make your members pay for the app just to use the site on a mobile?

I personally see no reason to install and promote a product that is not needed, keep the site open for all mobile devices and just activate the mobile skin when the site is upgraded to vBulletin 4.

No ads here on any site using tapatalk.Mobile skin is no where near as good, I admin a vb4 forum.

Also, tapatalk is independent of mobile skins. Active the mobile skin and tapatalk and let people use what they want? Don't really see any of your points.
