He said he was going to use built in mobile theme as its easier to put ads in. Though tapatalk has an unobtrusive system that pays you too.

But still no mobile skin. But he also said he was going to install tapatalk in another thread too - so who knows what's intended.

I just stopped using the site on my phone and make people wait for pm responses now.

It is a shame. So many of my favorite game forums (atariage, gbatemp, neogeo, famicomworld, etc) have tapatalk support. It is clear that the computer world has been shifting towards smart phones and tablets, but I guess not everyone is ready to embrace this trend. Tapatalk makes browsing and posting on forums so much nicer...

That's optional. It's not even in the default tapatalk upload - you have to specially find/install it

Browsing a forum on a phone is very cumbersome at best. Even a mobile version of a forum pales in comparison to a dedicated forum app like Tapatalk.

I can understand the concerns with bandwidth issues, I wish the forums were a little faster myself. Huge multiple Avatars drawing attention from posts and embedded YouTube videos. Is there a way to block the embedded YouTube boxes from even loading here on Assembler?

Whatever pays more wins right? Assember's got bills and this site is his baby. I know he's doing his best for it. Also you may want to be more worried about him than the site... I'm not trying to be funny, but he gets sick a lot and even with the affordable care act... It's still a tough life.

    Access Assembler from Tapatalk App

    To whom it may concern,
I love the site and come here and read things all the time but I would really like to use my phone vs pulling out my laptop. I access another forum that uses vBulletin 4.2 and I can use Tapatalk on that thread. I went to there page and found that they offer the API for free and was wondering if we can have it here too?

    Thanks for reading.

Also as an added note using mobile browsers work but sometimes the page will "blow up" (not render correctly).

It costs $448. $99 setup and $29 a month. If you can raise the money I will do it.

    No it doesnt, its free.

You might be talking about an assembler branded app - which is not required.

    Download is here, freely downloadable:

    http://www.tapatalk.com/activate_tapatalk.php?plugin=vbulletin

The site is then accessible via the tapatalk app - which the end user buys if they want it. No cost for you. You can also turn on ads within the control panel, which then show in the app and you get money from it.

Not sure if I'd buy an app to view a free forum. I know it's a one off cost but I wouldn't do it. I only go on this forum, probably multiple forums I would, does it really improve browsing forums dramatically?

yes it does and its like £2 or something.

And if you dont want to use it - then dont. Its free and easy to install on the server and all the people you do want to use it - can.

Tapatalk is also great for use on a tablet, reading post (and responding) while using Safari on the iPad is far from ideal.

Tapatalk is redundant with vBulletin 5, which has responsive design AND custom mobile apps ($199 one-off cost). Said app can then be free.

$199 is still not free though, VB5 is another upgrade that will likely break more things that dont get fixed (like the last upgrade, stuff is still broken in the styles!)

Where as tapatalk is uploading a folder and activating a plugin in the admincp, takes about 2 minutes.

Though either is fine, as mobile is currently terrible - especially trying to log in around that stupid "sign in!" graphic that scales to fill the screen when you zoom to see the login box!

yep but we aint on 5 are we? so since we are on 4 i dont see the problem with installing the free tapatalk addon and any users that want to use it can purchase the app for their device (and in fairness most people that want it will already have it, besides i think i paid £0.99p or something similar) and then it only costs the user, however this has been talked about for a while now and has been ignored so far

    To both the above posts:

Mobile Suite is actually available for vBulletin 4, too - my mistake. I'm surprised if you didn't already know that, though, Bad_Ad!

Tapatalk is £1.99. Tapatalk wants to automatically start at boot on Android. There is NO REASON for a forum app to start at boot. I already have enough shit doing that. There is no way in hell that app is EVER getting installed on my phone.

vBulletin Mobile Suite uses the Forum Runner app. The Forum Runner app is £1.28 and doesn't want to start at boot. You can also have a custom app made specifically for your forum. If Kev wanted to charge a few quid for such an app, I'd rather do that, personally.

    *EDIT*

Oh yeah, my point about vBulletin 5 being fully responsive was that, if Kev upgraded, we wouldn't need an app at all - it would just work! Check out the following on your phone:
