The 2600 joystick is a must for this list because all other console controllers of that generation were horrendous by comparison. Plus, they worked with ColecoVision, too. The Genesis S Controller pwned the SNES one, but it was late to the game. That N64 monstrosity belongs nowhere near this list. :-( The knobby sticks on the Dual Shock never felt right to me. The 360 controller has become my favorite PC controller as well.
Gamecube controller for me, sat perfectly in my hands and the buttons just felt right. Loved the feel of the extra click in the R + L buttons!
I loved the GC controller! I can see how it didn't work too well in a lot of games for some people though, but I liked it.
Really? I've still had it giving me problems under 1.8, ut not as frequently as it used to - or did 1.81 resolve this?
I assumed it was fixed for a while, I havent had problems since the update after I got the system in Jan.
I thought the bean shape was the Saturn pad the US pad I used with my dreamcast is a little bigger than the one I used
Well, I don't really understand what you are saying here (bad grammar), but here's my response: The first model U.S. Saturn did come with a different controller. However, the second model U.S. Saturn (the model with the round buttons) came with the exact same controller as the Japanese Saturn except it was black to match the console. I don't think the Japanese market got a Sega branded black controller for the Saturn, so the picture you have on your list is of a U.S. Saturn controller, but it's labeled "Japanese Saturn Pad."
Well, that's great and all... but if you go back and read my post you will gain some insight as to why what you posted on your list is a U.S. Saturn controller, and not a Japanese Saturn controller as you have labeled.
But they were never great in their time.. or at least not capitalized on enough. This is not to say the Wii remote is the holy grail --- it's too early to say. I will admit that it isn't for every game. (Fighters come to mind.)
I don't know how anyone can say that the Sixaxis controller is superior to the 360 controller. I mean, did you watch the PS3 controller demo, where Dylan Jobe, the producer/ director of Warhawk, sucked at his own game? He couldn't even fly straight or land right! He was all over the place! Ok, so the 360 dpad sucks... I don't even use the dpad except to change weapons or inventory. Do people actually use the dpad a lot? Fighters maybe? I don't know, it just doesn't even seem like a contest, imo.
The Sixaxess is just a poor excuse to try to do what Nintendo did. and it failed. or maybe sony saw too many people tilting controllers while playing games (you know you do it) and throught lets have something where something actually happens when you tilt a controller to try to get something to happen. I hate the L2 and R2 buttons on the Sixaxess they feel very cheap. Sony always went with if it ain't broke don't fix it the Dual Shock 2 was a good as it gets all they really should have done was remove the cord and add the home button.
I hate the ps2 pad and the sixaxiss, it does fit nicely in your hands but i hate the d-pad and the face buttons and the sixaxiss tilt function is just terrible Sice this is the best controller thread i think the best is every Ms xbox pad including 360 and i really like the GC pad, the top trigger buttons are perfect shape and have the prefect weight in them and the button layout is perfect
