I will believe it when I actually see them in stores. I just hope they make the top black also. otherwise the black knight xcm case is a lot better.
Actually I do, since the premium got the 20GB HDD when its still $100 (much more than the 120 model per $/GB) and keeping the 120GB HDD out of the pack would not only give the impression (to the casuals) that you're getting more bang for the buck with the 60GB PS3 but it would also cripple the Live Arcade downloads which are a great source of revenues for MS. After all you can keep more than enough saves in the 20GB HDD, but how many games?
Before Christmas the current core will get the 20GB HDD and the Premium will get the 120GB HDD. No price change. Sony will be forced to drop price on the PS3. They will have no choice.
Indeed, getting the cheap-o core SKU get the HDD is necessary to get the lowend users into the Arcade downloads. That and I want a cheap PS3, to play PS2 games. Stupid, I know...
I bet anything this is what will happen. Gives the PS3 a run for their money, and allows Microsoft to fade out the old HD-Less core system.
The pics are fake, apparently: http://www.engadget.com/2007/03/22/first-xbox-360-elite-pics/ "Update: Our trusted source that confirmed the Elite let us know that these shots are quite fishy; they don't have the same plastics details as the real Elite, nor does the retail box match up. Sorry folks, chalk this one up to the usual group of bored, fanatical photoshoppers." Not to say the whole thing is though.
I waas just about to post this bu Taucias beat me to it To be honest those pictures looked really fake from the start since they are the same images that microsoft released at the start of the 360s life but in black.
Although, in truth, some official pictures of game consoles are nothing more then recolor jobs if they have multiple colors.
I think this is the only way Microsoft could add what's effectively a new feature (HDMI) without alienating existing 360 owners. If they pretty up the console a bit and throw in a bigger HDD then they can justify having a slightly different model. If you want those features you should trade up - frankly I personally don't need them so I'll stick with my classic white model. To be honest as well, sure paint the 360 black, but it's not going to look as sexy as a PS3. But then the PSP is sexy in comparison to the 1st gen DS but that hasn't made it win the war.
I'd sure like the bigger HardDisk as well as 65nm chipss opposed to 90nm. Ofcourse I might end up with a newer 65nm model later on should my system need replacing again. I hope not though.
