It has been confirmed that the Elite will be a permanent SKU. Therefore that dismisses the idea of someone receiving a premium unit for a broken Elite.
Is that the 20Gb PS3 that hasn't even been made available in the UK? Certainly it will be easier to obtain a PS3. Something tells me that the Elite will sell really well.
The elite should have a great time over here - particularly if MS start doing the TV downloads. This is because despite sony and microsoft both using a similar conversion in price between $ and £, (price in $ is approx 1.4x the price in £), wince they have only launched the 60GB PS3 at £425, while the premium 360 is only £280 - which looked like a bargain at launch, since a huge number of consoles have launched here at £299 - particularly ones seen as 'Ahead of their time'. Now, The difference in price between the core and the Premium is £80 - I'd expect therefore for the Elite to be £350 (since it sounds better and can be marketed as 'Still £75 less than a PS3', rather than in the states where it is $20 less. This is going to slot in beautifully - If they target the kind of young guys who spend £200-£300 on TomToms and other little gadgets. Its where many of their sales have already been, and its a big market which they can easily take hold of, especially with a Premium product.
Not me sir - I haven't mentioned replacing elites... I'm sure they'll do like for like, but you won't be guaranteed a brand new version of whatever you sent in - you'll get either yours back repaired or a refurb core / premium / elite depending what you sent into them.
Yeah, there's no way Microsoft would send a white back instead of an Elite unless by mistake Shadowlayer. Oh, those evil corporations
Sexier in different ways. White gives it better defined curves, whilst black gives it dark and seductive look... ... I think I need a cold shower.
Unless it's a Sony. Microsoft revises a console and it adds features. Sony revises a console and it takes features away. -hl718
Then I'm waiting for the new premium, cuz the big HDD and 65nm is all I care for... $79 more for black paint...........I knew it was a macbook-like deal... And sorry for the misundertanding Mqark
Oh really? I suppose you'd like to show me how to connect three slimline PS2 units together in order to play a three-screen cockpit version of Gran Tursimo 3? Because for the life of me, I just *can't* figure out how to do it on anything but the early versions of the original system. Won't even work on the later models of the "big" PS2. And yeah, there is that little hard drive issue. Sorry FF fans! And if you were in Japan there were the launch games that ran on the 10000 series PS2 but wouldn't run on later versions. -hl718
hl718, how DO you cluster 3 PS2s in order to play the Expo-room cockpit GT? is it compatible with all GT games for the Ps2? or just the Nissan and other specific manufacturers?
Firewire my friend, firewire. You need three copies of GT3 and three PS2 units (all of the same region). If you're in the US or UK you'll obviously need the SCPH-30001 or 30002 models. In Japan you can use the original release model or the 30000 series model. It was actually quite the touted feature when the game originally shipped (and yes, I did have more than one opportunity to gather a few mates and get the setup running at home). Let me know when Microsoft releases a revised console that actually cripples a major feature of a AAA first party title. -hl718
Nice! I always wondered why they did remove the FW port in the first place. I use FW over USB2 for important tasks myself, including external HDD.
Kind of an outlandish example and more than made up for by progressive DVD playback, quieter fan, and the built in ethernet/modem and infra-red port, I'd have thought! Sony have to consider how the average Joe is going to perceive changes, I guess. Not many of them have 3 PS2s, 3 copies of GT and an iLink. The compatibility problems were not acceptable though. Major feature? Just a novelty and far out of the reach of most gamers at the time.
Yes, but think of all the gameplaying you wouldn't have done if you had waited till now to buy one. Think of how behind all your peers you were. Think of how you sit in the pub, crying into your pint because you didn't buy your brand-spanking-new next-gen console. Now think of all the sex you could have been having, but instead sat at home, didn't meet the girl of your dreams, didn't win that luxury sedan, didn't win all that money and buy an island. Now think of pie. Mmmm.... pie. I'm sorry, I think I wandered off into a little world of my own there.
