Capcomes CPS 3 arcade board only ran a very small amount of games and in fact is one of the lowest game count ever for an arcade board but CPS 3 has some great games on there and with no doubt the most popular is Street Fighter III 3rd strike (or 3s for short). You can't forget the very rare Red Earth which I'm sure not many people will have played since it was only seen in arcades every blue moon and was never ported to a console. Considering all this happened in 1996 it's about time the board got cracked!. So far progress is going well with 3s now booting up it shouldn't be to far till we have the roms out in the open (can I just say at this point you should own the real thing since emulation is illegal if you haven't paid for the game) If you want to know more head over to the teams website:thumbsup: http://haze.mameworld.info/
It is exciting to see them making progress on cps3. I wonder which system will be the next one which seams impossible once cps3 is finished?
this is excellent news. ive still got a couple of dead cps3 carts here, among them red earth(us) and street fighter 3.3 hope there'll be a way to revive them sooner or later.
http://nebula.emulatronia.com/ Excellent model 2 emulator, needs a good system. Works flawlessly on a dual core
I tried to use Nebula many times and theres always something that doesnt works... Anyway, I would really like to see a good Model1 emulator, since modeler died before they could make it run 3D games like Virtua Racing and VF...
this is great news in so far as what it could do for suicide bateries in carts - there's a chance the carts could be phoenixed just like CPS2 boards, and thus never suicide ever again.
Thats the theory  If people get all they need anything is possible after the success of the emulation of CPS3 which just about everyone thought was impossible
I think after Razoola released the very first XOR table for Street Fighter Zero, most of us realized nothing was impossible. If that wasn't enough, when they discovered how the NeoGeo graphics encryption worked, that too showed that in time these protection schemes would fall if there was enough interest. And after CPS2 was figured out, it's not that surprising CPS3 followed given that from what I've heard it seems like Capcom just had an evolution of protection techniques. It's still probably going to be quite awhile before we see any emulators running the games decently.
It might still be a month or a few till they release a playable version, Haze said with out gfx it's curring running well over 120fps on his pc. So I think actualy a first release will probably run at near or full speed on most duel core cpus.
Oh boy... dual core 64bit processors to emulate a system with a SH2 at 20mhz? That's pretty sad... The 32X had 2 faster SH2s cpus and Gens doesn't take more than maybe a 1ghz 32bit AMD. MAME speed indeed.
What do you exspect. Mame was never built for speed and never will be. But it gives hope that apon its release it will be full speed for some people. You will just have to wait for FBA and the likes to emulate it in a more optimised way.
