I never did get my chihiro to netboot, I don't know why. Maybe it was the games I was using, I had correct jumpers, correct PIC, known working software, so I have no idea. I honestly didn't spend much time with it. This discussion is best left in a new thread though, in my opinion.
So I got 2 things today. My Trusty modded 1.4Ghz board and a debug from davidthomas. Think it was said before but I'll say it again. The Chihiro loader and games do work on CPU modded consoles. Played through mission 3 of Ghost Squad with no problems. Only difference I noticed is the loading times seem to be cut down to practically half now. In the next few days I'll be setting a Windows Xp PC up to use the debugging features of the debug console and see if I can get any data dumps from the Chihiro games as they run. Think someone said it does work on a debug if certain measures are taken. I'll look into it.
Thanks for your responses guys. Wow tkeahi, and sonicdude you guys must be loaded My wife would kill me if I tried to buy a Chihiro.
What is the current pricing on chihiros anyway? My XBOX collection has grwn a lot in the last couple of months and the Chihiro is next on the list. First I need to find that pesky X3CP in green!
There's a Type 3 Chihiro main board on eBay right now for around $600 USD. http://www.ebay.com/itm/SEGA-CHIHIR...eo_Games_Coin_Operated_MJ&hash=item58ab1acba1 Doesn't include the PSU, GD ROM drive, or anything else. Just main unit with the net dimm board.
Well I got Ghost Squad going on the debug. Seems doing it the normal way works. Only difference is I put the game folder and the launcher in the DEVKIT Tools folder on the HDD. The launcher shows up at the XDK launcher dash and can be launched normally. Since it's late I'll go about getting the dev PC set up tommorrow. Maybe now we can finally get some REAL data dumps from the Chihiro games as they run or crash.
They are in the 'grands'. If I were to go ahead with a cabinet, I'd get Virtua Cop 3. Other Chihiro games are not that much different compared to the arcade ports XBOX mostly got anyway.
Eh Virtua Cop 3 can be had for relatively cheap in the states when they come up, 600-900$ isn't terribly. Not counting expensive Ebay auctions of course.
I have seen the VC3 in cabinet for 1000 bucks 2 years ago. I will pick one up next time I see one. I can run the other chihiro games on it right? I think I just need the security chip with the game I want. I will need to do some more research on the matter before I start going crazy and buying arcade machines! Now I think it more thru I should consolize one for all the games! It would be cheap to start with the full arcade machine and strip it down. I bet the cabinet will sell on its own.
All true. Hard part will be getting the peripherals working again. You have the standard controls, guns for HOTD 3, a skateboard for one of the games, and steering wheels for a few others.
Can't you discuss this stuff in the Arcade-Subforum in its own thread? This thread is hard to read as it is.
nonosto: Why ask such a question? It's basicly the main topic of the thread at the moment.. (aside from the offtopic spam) I require some more information about Crazy Taxi 3: HR. So if anyone could run that (normal mode and test mode) and check which AV cables work and which don't, that'd be nice.
Sorry for my impatient (one objetiv it's to calibrate the gun with ghost squad) I will try for crazy taxi this week end I will have time
I have already tested Crazy Taxi, in normal and test mode with and without the launcher. It restarts using the launcher with hacks and in test mode it boots to a screen that says "Crazy Taxi High Roller Test Mode Initializing" and just stays at that screen. If you try to run the game without the launcher, it boots to a screen that says "Crazy Taxi High Roller System Initializing..." and just stays at that screen. If you try to run test mode without the launcher then you get the same result as you do when trying to run testmode with the launcher. I was testing with component cables.
I will test Crazy Taxi 3: HR some time soon as I have component, s video, and composite out on my console. The setting up of the dev PC for debugging will have to be put on hold as the XDK 5933 package I got is incomplete and will need stuff from the 5849 XDK. That will take some time to source. Then there's the learning curve...
