Man I so wish that when we come out of test mode on games like Ghost Squad and Virtual Cop 3 that the games would play the way they play when just launching from the game .xbe that way we could actually play the game at different difficulty settings, and also do stuff like calibrate a lightgun. I noticed something interesting with Virtual Cop 3 today. After exiting the testmode, the game freezes in the exact same spot that the game was reported to freeze on Xbox's with only 64mb of ram. Is it possible that after exiting test mode, that the Xbox reverts back to using only 64mb of ram even if a full 128mb of ram is installed? After exiting test mode with Ghost Squad, the game doesn't freeze, but it is kinda messed up, ex. can't see your crosshairs, can't see your shot selection or remaining ammo. It seems strange that games do not play the same after exiting test mode, does anybody know why?
Punctuation m8. Also, so proud to see the spirit of helping here. When the wiki is up in a day or so, I hope we can set up a how-to and host the files somewhere offshore.
I have the same problem with my debug and 1.4GHz consoles. I really need to get off my sorry ass and get the dev PC set up to debug this stuff...
Dear friends It's seems (I 'm sure about 99,99%) the test mode with Chihiro launchers is not yet available. Actually Jayforox is busy with University exam, wait his back.
Good news! I stuck my spare xbox in the oven and retrieved the Ram Chips! I'm putting them in my XBOX at the moment, hopefully by the end of the day I'll have a 128mb XBOX Unfortunately I knocked the board the wrong way when I was cooking the board, so two out of four ram chips got fused to the MCPX and XGPU by accident so thats going to be a royal PITA to get the solder off quickly :/ Edit: I give up haha, the solder wick I borrowed was covered in Acid Flux and ate the traces clean off my good xbox, so I'm Salvaging the ram from my (used to be) good one... and begging my friend to sell me one of his
Alrighty then, I got the 4 ram chips off the board and the video encoder (by accident hah). I'll be heading to Canadian Tire to get uncontaminated solder wick and borrow a heatgun and some fiberglass insulation so I can heat up only specific pieces of the next xbox board I'm getting from my friend.
Dear friends Someone succes to run option mode with Virtua cop 3 and Ghost squad please? I want to change difficulty and calibrate my gun. I heard to the test mode can be launched straight from the launcher by holding Back, but I dont know how to and I have no idea to run it from chihiro launchers. Thank you
I'm still here if help is needed. I have a debug and a 1.4GHz/ 128MB consoles. the working games run perfectly on both with no problems. I still need to get the dev PC set up for debugging. Looks like I'll never get to it. Gotta clean house first to make room for the second PC to run...
Dude, nobody has test mode working properly. Test mode isn't going to be able to correctly save or read settings because its trying to get/save that information from the JVS baseboard. If you open the game xbes in IDA you'll see a lot of references to the JVS baseboard: JvsEEPROM_Read JvsEEPROM_Write JvsBACKUP_Read etc, etc, etc
Okay, hold up, hold up... You guys are able to run Ghost Squad on retail Xboxes with 128mb? I'm just now realizing that Chihiro is now a seperate forum section, and I thought this thread was long gone, so I haven't kept up until now. I have a debug Xbox, and I never could get Ghost Squad to run, or Crazy Taxi. Since I've primarily been using MacOSX and busy with other things, I haven't even been able to try it lately. When I get a chance, I'll try dual booting Windows on my Mac Pro (or at least setup a VM) and try again. Did JayFox write a new tool for this? I've been trying to skim through the thread, and I don't know everything that I missed. Just trying to catch up, and stay in the loop. Shogun.
If news Jayfoxrox post it, ghost squad run pefectly, except option mode not yet avallable, the gun calibration impossible. Create mbcom and mbrom subfolder in folder Chihiro in E\. Instruction from Floydthebarber youtube channel: All code and tools avallable on Jayfoxrox web page.
