I know a bunch of you guys also live in Japan, so give me your opinions. It's kind of hard not to drink coffee in this country isn't it? There are vending machines every 20 steps :pong:. All those little 110yen cans are all fairly decent tasting, but so overpriced.

I picked myself up a decent Thermos, but unfortunately I haven't found any instant coffees that are worth a shit. Best one I've had so far is Nescafe Gold Blend. Its ok, but just tastes funny to me. Just doesn't compare with something like Boss coffee.

And for the viewing pleasure of all not in Japan, a few of the million different types of coffee here:

Hehe, nice! Those are all coffee in a can, though - not instant. Are they the kinds where the can heats itself up, or do you drink them cold?

I'm guessing they don't do Douwe Egbert's in Japan. I could imagine they'd have problems saying it!

i would have to add my two cents in here.
Instant coffee is usually worse off then regular,
I don't know much about Japan but if it is possible.
    Make fresh coffee at home,

Japanese canned coffee is garbage. Some of the ice latte stuff that comes in a carton is nice though.

There's a series of commercials. He's got that expression in all of them. Google around, I'm sure they're on the interweb.

If you want the best instant coffee you need Nescafe Gold Blend. anything else is just shite. Stuff in cans, well you can't go wrong with CocaCola's Gorgia European Blend or Suntory's BOSS Gold.

I will say that nescafe instant coffee is good, but the real deal is just that good.

I'm sure with Japan being close to southeast asia, there are a lot of good tasting coffees from those area, I'm sure it has them.

Yeah, I should have known all you coffee purists would go into convulsions over the word "instant" ;-). Of course it goes without saying that fresh ground coffee is best, but I don't have the time in the mornings.

    Yakumo,
I've been buying the Nescafe gold already, but it just has some strange extra taste in there.. maybe i'm being too picky. I'm just hoping for can taste, but instant.

I admit I was surprised when first seeing Tomy Lee Jones as the Boss coffee guy, but he is damned perfect for that roll.

I know what you mean. I can only have Gold with lots of sugar which I normally don't take. Nescafe President is better. Nescafe Koumibaisen (click) is good too.

Also, +1 for Tommy Lee Jones in Boss CMs. Love his face.

Damn, I almost bought the 香味焙煎 last time :banghead:.
I'll try those. The problem is that once I buy one i'm stuck with it for a few weeks before I can get something else. I'd rather suffer though cheap coffee than waste the money. I bought a Kilimanjaro blend last time that tasted like Kilimanjaro drainage water:crying:.

I prefer to boil coco instead of coffee, and down it bitter, unlike hot chocolate drinks - it has a deeper taste and doesn't give me diarrhea and shakes.

You all need to come to Seattle and have some real coffee. And no, not any of that Starbucks crap. There are some amazing coffee makers up here. Diablo's, Pete's, and Caffe Ladro make some of the best coffee around.

    Sorry, Henners. :p

Nescafe and Kenco are good instant coffees. I much prefer REAL coffee, though!

Do you have Tassimo machines in Japan? They're OK. Pods are a bit of a rip-off, though. I've seen another that was geared towards coffee, not just any hot drinks. I can't remember the brand but the coffee was very good!

Graciano, you need to go to Italy and have some REAL coffee - they've been making it longer! ;-)
