OK. Douwe Egbert's = good, Nescafe & Kenco = bad.

Oh, Kenco make a nice coffee now!

    ...as do Nescafe!

OK, let me try to get this straight in summary. You wouldn't recommend Nescafe or Kenco. You suggest "getting something nice" like Douwe Egbert's. However, Kenco make a coffee which is "really nice" and Nescafe make a coffee "which is nice". Hmm, you seem to have contradicted yourself a lot, there!

Lol, that boss coffee poster looks sick!

What does everyone think about the UCC canned coffee?
They have those at my local asian marts, never tried but I am curious

UCC is nasty if you ask me. If I'm going to drink can coofee (which I do every morning) it's either Cocacola's Gorgia European Blend of Suntory's BOSS Gold.

Going a little off topic here, did anyone try Coca-Cola Blak? I think it was only available in France and America. I saw a poster for it when I was in the States and wanted to try it, but couldn't find any! It's coffee-flavoured Coke.

I'm curious. Did you guys ever tried real brazilian coffee? When i mean real, i mean brands sold in Brazil.

I know any coffee sold worldwide with the "Cafés do Brasil" logo is brazilian, but i thought those brands in brazil were sold worldwide. At least they are all over ebay and used to be on amazon.com

I agree that can stuff are rather boring(?) side but their frozen instant coffee range does taste alright. I like blue mountain blend in particular.
Still nothing beat the flat white I brew from the espresso machine myself using the roasted beans... ^ ^

7 eleven here where doing a Nescafe coffee machine promotion a few weeks back were you could get free coffee from these machinesthat take little containers like those milk ones you find in cafes. It tasted pretty good, better than the stuff in cans. I'm wondering if these machines are worth buying in the long run though since the containers do seem rather expenssive uless you can buy them in bulk.

Either your rich Yakumo, or you've been living in Japan for too long :icon_bigg. As good as it is, I just can't get used to spending 100~120yen for the tiny canned coffees. Not every day at least. My American conscious keeps whispering: "your not getting a good deal"! :fresh:

Maybe after a few more years i'll forget that it's a rip off :icon_bigg.

I look rich but in reality I'm a poor bastard  I spend 400 yen to 500 yen every morning on my breakfast. Actually, that and blowing all my spare cash on a speeding ticket this week is why I'm poor.

Of course it's also a huge waste of natural resources. At first I was like, "all those different drinks and cute hot tiny cans with Japanese characters and funny faces". But now that the fascination has worn off I try not to buy cans and pet bottles anymore.

Yeah, its depressing to think how much money i've spent on them already. I've always been one to drink a lot of liquid, so I was buying a few drinks a day. Few months back I picked up a nice 500ml Zojirushi hot/cold thermos. It was 3,000yen, but i'm sure i've saved more than that already in a few months.

That's a Tassimo. I asked ages ago in this thread if you had them out there! They're OK. Kind of a cross between instant and filter coffee. The other one is probably better, but I forget its name.

That's what you get for driving a flashy car! ;-)

Yes 100 to 120 yen (esp at the exchange rate now) is a lot to pay for what effectively is a hit of coffee without the espresso buzz. I've given up on coffee and am basically drinking various types of green and barley teas as well as Maté tea (which I hear is very popular in Brazil).

1 - Doesn't your wife make you a tradtional Japanese breakfast in the morning, I mean that's one of the things I am looking forward to having some gohan with a bowl of miso soup with daikon, ninjin, satsuma, negi and aburaage tofu. Cheap and healthy.

2 - You drive a Subaru Imprezza and

3 - You always show new games and stuff nearly every week in the "What I bought" thread so don't expect any sympathy from anyone here. :p

I had nearly forgotten about CocaCola Black.

I tried it a few times and basically it tasted like flat cola mixed with black coffee. Strangely it wasn`t as bad as it sounds, although it was easily forgettable.

400-500 yen for breakfast is what I should be aiming for. Now that I'm working out of the house, I have to have a big ass Starbucks latte, and some bullshit pastry... and a banana. 790 yen this morning, and I'll probably drop about 1000 yen on lunch. No speeding tickets since college though. ;)

coca cola black was actually good. I have a bottle of it here, i saved it. i thought it was interesting.

as for, canned coffee...120 yen...that's pretty cheap for a morning energy jolt. I spent $2.60USD for mine today -_-

    also. gaijinpunch

you get a venti latte? I hope you sure as hell get an extra shot of espresso or you're just paying for an extra pump of flavor and 4 more ounces of milk.

8 oz short - 1 shot espresso, 2 pumps flavor
12 oz tall - 1 shot espresso, 3 pumps flavor
16 oz grande - 2 shot espresso, 4 pumps flavor
20 oz venti - 2 shots espresso, 5 pumps flavor

unless you're getting an americano, then the espresso numbers become

    short - 2
    tall - 2
    grande - 3
    venti - 4

    And iced drinks

12 oz tall - 1 shot espresso, 3 pumps flavor
16 oz grande - 2 shots espresso, 4 pumps flavor
24 oz venti - 3 shots espresso, 5 pumps flavor

    iced americano's get

    tall - 2 espresso
    grande - 3 espresso
    venti - 4 espresso

The "doubleshot" on ice that is sold is the same as an americano, but venti gets 5 shots

    These cans are very small.

No, just grande. They don't really do venti here. I think it's available but I've never seen anyone drink one.
