Well, plus I had a coupon, so it was actually free. I also got Golden Axe Beast Rider that time too, to see how bad it is.
I like how you quote me, and none of the others. There's a few words I'd love to say to you right now, but I'm too mature for that. So, to dumb it down even further, be polite to staff and other members please.
^^ plural, (s) i'm CERTAIN it was directed to all. besides, he's CORRECT! i take NO offence for the truth! @ artillery. i commend your honesty, but it's doesn't make us friends. :cocksure:
Ebay, game sites, and Youtube play a part in rising the prices of certain games to stupid levels but the main driving factor that hikes up the overall market is nostalgia. People who grew up with these systems now have disposable income and want to relive their youth and collect all the games they couldn't have as a kid. It is a cycle though since as time goes on these same people get married, have kids, ect and move on. The Atari market was hot but then cooled and the NES is also starting to cool off a bit. Meanwhile the 16 bit games are climbing steadily and 32/64 are picking up. Prices overall will eventually drop again for most games though not to the level they were at before.
Interesting thing about Beach Spikers: it uses deflicker, but if you boot with Swiss with the 480p option, it disables the deflicker, and it looks sharp and beautiful. Beach Spikers was developed by AM2 by the way, so that says something about its quality.
Wow amiga1200 took this more gracefully than Hex1gon. I don't care if your fetish is video game characters and you have a waifu, but others will judge you. I look like a knobhead to people when playing a fun game with pointless huge bouncing tits Fan service doesn't belong in a game that isn't about sex as it tarnishes a game with otherwise great plot or design. It's off putting and maybe offensive to a minimum of half the world's population. Personally I am not so certain that retro games will go down any time soon. The people who cherish them so much will live for many years to come, and is it me or do people get more conservative as they get older? Take into consideration that those enthusiasts are campaigning against the "evils" of modern gaming. They make old games look superior to new ones, and they've convinced some younger people. I guess that means another generation will keep them in high demand.
@ la-li-lu-le-lo. thanks for the tip, i'll pass it onto friend who still uses his cubes. (i on the other hand retired that thing, because as of present, there's NO hdd card for it, just sd readers. WODE jukebox user, the wii side is virtually redundant anyway, so it's just a flat cube in my hands) negated the issue altogether by defining resolution in wii da$h. (EDTV) i doubt that's 480p, i'll have to check that. :smile-new: ... in for a penny, in for a kicking. this beach spikers is 'growing' on me like a bad idea, still hard to make headway, getting slaughtered by the germans. (at least the game is a little more down to earth and the likely chances of success depending who you choose? i chose england as my team, and like soccer, we fail there...just like WIMBLEDON even. take that UK nationalists) AM2 R&D dept is one of the few developers i have respect for, they stick to the point and ALWAYS deliver on the goods. ... think i'll have to choose netherlands as my next team, the team that seems to like smashing the ball into the opposition faces at close range, inevitably forcing the ball to drop just in front of the net. (irl volleyball injuries are NOT pretty, sad they didn't include facial rearrangements in the games i've seen. i bet the girls won't be liked then? LOLOLOL TROLL!) .... judgement works both ways, as does the demand. team ninja (& TECMO) saw an audience and homed in on it. as for offensive, most games are one way or another. take the RE series for one. blowing a zombie skull in two with mickey-mouse rounds (50 caliber dirty harry specials) can offend, i've been subject to disapprovals IRL for playing them. (in the words of galen from babylon five crusade: i don't hold grudges, i have no surviving enemies) so you see, one persons pleasure will piss somebody off, you can't win or please everybody...it seems! ... PLOT and dead or alive DON'T mix, they never have. when i played the coin-ops version of DOA, guess what put me onto the series?! (rhetorical) :witless: [edit] typo.
Mario Kart 64 and Super Smash Bros. Melee Mario Kart was the second best selling game on N64, I'm not sure if it was ever given as a pack-in but there's a lot of them out there yet NTSC copies regularly go over $35 SSBM was the best selling game on the 'cube, over 30 % of the people who own(ed) a Gamecube bought this game, yet I managed to sell a boxed/no manual copy that I picked up for a quarter at a yard sale in 2005 for $50 late last year. Completes are going for $75! Of course $35 for an N64 game that probably sold new for $50 - $60 is still a depreciation, but $75 for SSBM (which in's actually a great game (IMHO only)) seems insane, It surely can't have been more than $50 new.
I want to talk about something, and I realize this isn't exactly what you were talking about, but I think it's somewhat related. I don't understand the argument that sexualizing women in any art form is degrading to women. To me, that's tantamount to saying that sex itself is degrading to women. Should we all just stop having sex? Art is just a form of expression, right? So what's wrong with expressing sexual desire? We all have sexual desire (the vast majority of people, anyway). Women have sexual desire too, usually directed at men. It's a natural part of human anatomy and psychology. Why shouldn't we be free to express it in art? Should we just pretend it doesn't exist? Keep in mind that I don't think this only applies to women - I think sexualizing men in art is fine too. It's fine if you don't enjoy it; nobody's forcing you to see it. But it doesn't make sense to judge other people for enjoying something that doesn't hurt anyone.
I couldn't agree more. Whenever such a question is posed, there is no clear answer, however. Either some BS will come up such as "objectifying women like that causes child prostitution", "it doesn't add to the experience how she is so scantily dressed", or how they just don't like it. I think the real thing is that people have been fighting their own real urges for too long & they themselves don't even know what they want / feel about the subject. It's a big cluster with no fuck. Some people's minds are too warped.
After typing a longer reply I figured many people here are in favor of it, and I would have a hard time changing anyone's views. Here it is simple instead. Some people enjoy it as much as you would if there were lots of men wearing very skimpy clothing (plus penis physics in DOA). Don't pretend like that would not irk and repulse you. la-li-lu-le-lo you are attacking an argument I did not make. Sex appeal is fine in games that are about sex. I won't say no to having somewhat revealing clothing (like shorts), but you can't defend shit like:
However you called me pathetic, which I won't take lightly, maybe be a bit more respectful? Is it really that difficult for you? A saying goes, "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it all" All I can say is, get over it. Games are not the only thing with sexualizing women for attention. Men in games can be the same, huge, full of muscle, shirtless. It's such a one way street.
I can easily defend it. People want it. Not only that, it is harmless in itself before twisted minds get a hold of it, as it is just a game. It's always bothered me that violence is accepted or glossed over by those who claim it's just as bad while arguing against sexual content. For one thing, sex is a good thing, necessary, we all look at others as attractive. Who cares if there is amazingly perfect (&sometimes downright unrealistic) looking models of women in games? I haven't seen anything like that on TV or in movies or on billboards or on my body wash. We all know how things work, the real world has all different kinds of people with different looks. Advertising / Media chooses attractive things because there is a demand. Just get over it. Women are beautiful, & fake models of women contained in files on a HDD can be too. Same for men, same for everything. I'd like to hear the actual harm of this, but I just realized this is not the thread to be talking about this.
I honestly think, it's just people creating a scene for the sake of it. Don't see it harmful either, the fact is we're going to start seeing female characters in extremely loose frog onesies now. Just to keep people like artillery happy.
I know. I said that in the first line of my post. What I said wasn't a direct response to what you said - it was more of a somewhat related tangent. I said it would not, and I meant it. Did you think I was joking? Let me clarify that a bit: while I personally would not enjoy that, it wouldn't bother me that such a thing exists because I could easily choose to ignore it. I also wouldn't think any less of other people for enjoying it.
:witless: i'm a sucker for jubblies. trying to FORCE a change of perspective serves to create resistance. policing gaming is dangerous, it's cause for war in some minds. :wink-new: ^^ not playing fair, i find it hard to type when my trousers are possessed and my hand is haunted. ... if you're looking for like minds, may i suggest you look up 'social justice warriors'.. they're anything but social, and justice is FAR from their objectives, but you'll find that out for yourself. happy hunting, just don't get on their bad side, or they'll show you the power of hearsay and conjecture...:? :? [edit] variety is the spice of life, we'll like what we want to like.
You took it too personal, and it wasn't an attack on your ego. Places on the web were people don't act like jerks are rare. After some time you become partially desensitized to it. No it's not the best form of communication, and I do agree that civility is better. Before I abandon the women in games topic I will only say I will agree to disagree.
People don't act like jerks here, reason why I brought it to your attention, people get temp banned here for it. So in a way, consider it a warning, and it goes for others too. Choose the words a bit more wisely, calling someone pathetic is rather personal, regardless on how you think I (ME) should take it. You can now see why it fired up a few other people too. Anyhow, back on topic everyone.
Common games should not cost more than they originally did used back in the hay day of whichever said console was popular in so like for example 5-10 dollars a game would be a reasonable price and anything above that makes me think twice about buying.
Anything Nintendo 64 over in our woods. Snowboard Kids 1 went from $25-$30 complete to $100 in the space of 6 months. Le fook.
