GSL: I don't think think there's ever been an issue w/ them AFAIK. In fact, you could legally by mushrooms (yes, those kind) on the streets (literally, in booths, with signs) until about late 2001. Very strange indeed. There was some loophole in the law that took forever to pass. (FYI - birth control pills were illegal until about the same time). So, with all the mushroom and pill litigation going on, I don't think they had time to go after the genki drinks. :)

The grass comment was mainly to express my opinion for the backwards system. I really believe tobacco is the worse thing you can put in your body other than like dishwashing detergent or some shit like that. When I was a smoker, I'd wake up with chest and throat pains until I had a smoke. I think people should have a vice though, and the green smokes seem generally a better idea and don't make everyone smell like shit in the process. I dry heave sometimes when I walk by a person w/ the smell on their clothes (but oddly enough, the 2nd hand smoke doesn't bother me so much). ANyways -- just don't vote for me when the election comes.

EDIT: I've never had a genki drink. Isn't it essentially a Red Bull?

  3. Well, if it is indeed for ruler of the world, I have a feeling the process won't be as democratic as an election. ;)

I think by 'genki drink', he meant those health/energy drinks in general. But speaking of that and Red Bull, anyone here who is a fan of energy drinks or Red Bull owes it to themselves to get some of the original Thai formula. It's absolutely non-carbonated - unlike the stuff sold here which sits in your stomach like a bag of rocks - so it goes down easier and doesn't leave you feeling bloated. They still retain that wonderful liquid Pez taste though.

The ones I'm talking about weren't drinks but rather pills - you could buy a packet of 5 or 6 at most gas stations or convenience stores for a few bucks. They were pretty much entirely psuedoephedrine or a similar legal stimulant, and eventually there were some idiot kids that thought it would be fun to take a whole packet at once, or two... Nice way to pretty much blow up your heart.

They've had a century to do that, mind you. I read an article in Yomiuri about how Tokyo gas and the electrical companies had started to do their underground works together, after residents had complained about the street being laid open one week, then resealed, only to be dug up the week after that by another company. To think that it took them so long.

ObCrazy thing about Japan: Japanese gentlemen have a tendency to consume pornography in public.

How long has America had to make a convenient, simplified way of sending money electronically to other people, yet, all we have is completely broken system called Paypal... and checks if you want to count that. Don't say those billpaying services at the bank, b/c they are utter shite.

I agree.. Japan's got some effed up stuff that makes you wonder, but after coming back to America, we do too. Especially the checks.
