I just acquired two debug xboxes with two different unique games. I was wondering if I copied that content to say a chipped xbox with a debug bios; would it work? Or maybe just any modded xbox? Id like to upload them so everyone could appreciate them. Will post pics of them with their games after work. What would cause them not to work on a modded box? I've not seen any that wouldn't, but I suppose I haven't looked or tried
Not enough RAM. There are quite a few games out there with issues or completely refusing to work. Even Kameo has its issues. Doesn't help that the hacked debug bios are apparently pretty awful in terms of how they were created (dont know the details behind that though)
The Complex debug BIOS was based on the kernel source code. I haven't used an xbox without 128mb in awhile, I often forget that the retails were only 64
Just saying what someone else in the know had said hah. And yeah, I forget about it too, but RAM seems to be the primary issue, for real this time and not Chihiro-ram
that's what I was thinking about the RAM. GAME LAUNCHING For some reason, zombie game goes and reboots the xbox when trying to start it. Likewise, my friend said that he didn't have luck with it either... apparently some other guy did get it going before and he apparently didn't know much about xboxes... I'm open to suggestions. It's a 29.7mb app so something is there. I'll post pics in a hot minute of everything. I don't have a video recorder or a good camera yet which is highly unfortunate.
Like I think I said in a PM, Id be more than happy to help out hah. Most likely it is a RAM issue if its not on a debug kit. If it is, its possible that files accidentally got moved or deleted. Always hard to say.
I'm open to all sorts of help. There are two games on the first one... Hail to the Chimp... (2 versions, or .xbe app files) and Stubbs the Zombie... the zombie game works! It just takes a REALLY long time for it to load (had a black screen for ten mins) The zombie game takes up 2.41 gb of data and I just realized this is a released game! I am going to download the released version and compare it to this debug version! I don't know if this xbox would be worth more if it is an actual beta??? it takes a long time to load and there is all sorts of debug info. I'll post pics as soon as I finish posting. there are a bunch of .xbe files for it
https://plus.google.com/photos/1002...s/5940714512306125137?authkey=CPrhlaHvhrzujAE I uploaded only 1 photo and was already over my limit here on this forum... instead of downsizing the photos and making them even crappier, I decided to put them on picasa... That link is for the photos
The game was advertised to have been created on a halo engine! you can clearly see masterchief halo thumbs for the gamesave data... I guess they didn't switch that around yet.
... there are several .xbe files.... not to mention that Hail to the Chimp (first version has a Stubbs the Zombie thumb, maybe that's the save data...) anyways it is DEFINITELY a beta version. After just a few button combinations on my controller I was changing gamespeed, camera flying, spawning a jeep outta my head, and all sorts of stuff. There is a debug dialogue that comes and goes to depending on what I push. I'll upload more photos when I understand more!
Backup the games before you mess with it too much. You never know what will happen Hail to the Chimp is technically more interesting, though there seems to be a few debug kits with that game out there. Stubbs is interesting, but because it is a released game it is generally worth less, and sadly Stubbs doesn't have the biggest following despite people really liking it.
What's the best way to back it up? set up ftp somehow? I'm used to doing it on a modded xbox.... I don't know if it is any different on an unmodded one
so do you do much dev stuff? that was my original purpose with these... I'm not a collector. and also not a fan of VM lol. I believe in native setups, no emulation on any front lol. I had the xdk and all of the tools. Maybe I will have a go with it again.
I don't really do any development for the original Xbox anymore, only if I feel need to experiment. As far as I know Xbox Neighborhood will not work on windows 7, which is why I have XP running on a VM for the times I want to transfer from my Xbox. That's not to say that there aren't some hacks/tweaks/workarounds to get xbox neighborhood to work on 7, I've not tried.
