Known to work for NTSC-U? Don't have the PAL GD-ROM to dump. But I do have the NTSC-U. My old way of playing this was swapping from VGA to composite. Which is highly annoying.

AFAIK not even the US version plays the FMVs in VGA :-/

I'm glad to see you appreciate my work :) There is one thing that is not working correctly so far: the subtitles (en-uk version not impacted)!! And the more I dig in the code the shittier it gets... I'm pretty sure the guys who coded it did not really know how it was supposed to work. For instance they start playing the fmv then setup the display. I dunno whether it will fix the subtitle glitch but it's worth trying.

Nah it doesn't but I don't have access to the Euro images. But I can dump my US disc.

So far I am focusing only on the european version as most of the time (but of course Dino Crisis is a bad example) euro version are multi-languages and as they usually came after the jap and us ones, we can expect then to include to latest build (less bugs??)... and they lack 60Hz options.

Just a quick heads up about my progress:

    - The UK-FR-IT versions now play the FMVs correctly (NTSC and VGA)
    - Problem: the localized versions (all except the UK one) have subtitles that are not in sync with the FMVs and are squeezed on the left part of the screen. Trying my best to make it work.

Ok even though I still have a lot of work to make the game support VGA and NO-VGA dynamically and create patches for all the versions, I think the biggest part is done. If you want details about my progress, I updated my blog: http://japanese-cake.livejournal.com/10264.html

Great work. Any chance of seeing a patch for Last Blade 2 Heart of the Samurai?

Can you please give me some time ? :p More seriously, it took me the entire week to fully patch one version and the only reason why I could spend that much time is because my wife is not at home at the moment ;) I think LB2 is a 240p game and unless I can stretch all the textures on-the-fly (like I did for the subtitles of Dino Crisis) without downgrading the perf, I do not really see how I would be able to patch it. Btw, if there are PVR gurus around I would like to ask them a couple of questions.

Anyway, back to the topic of this thread, I am looking for someone to test a gdi image of Dino Crisis. I tested it on VGA and it seems ok. However I don't have a crt at hand so I would like someone to test a couple of things. Ideally, someone who has already played the game and has a savegame at the end of the game (to see the credits).

    Thank you in advance,

Of course, but I didn't think asking the question would be out of line? Sorry if it was. Anyways thanks for at least considering it.

It's not, no problem ;) It's just that this game, dino crisis, has been frustrating enough to patch that I don't really want dig into another game right now... But it's just a matter of time of course!

Haha I hear that! No worries man, we appreciate all you have done for the custom bios and VGA patches.

Also, I must say a huge reason I am hopeful this would be patched for VGA is that my Philips HDTV isn't even compatible with my S-Video cable, as it doesn't support 240p. So I was expecting it to be a long shot for it to ever work with VGA but it would be nice someday.

Can't you keep the resolution on 240p even on VGA? Wouldn't the monitor stretch it ?

I have better to create a topic about it or pm you later. Basically it's about low resolution in VGA mode. I don't really get pixels output twice when setting up the LR flag in 0xa05f80e8 (http://mc.pp.se/dc/pvr.html).

If I understand correctly how it works, the Dreamcast always outputs a 480p signal with a VGA cable, so if you have a game running in 240p that you force to output a 480p (VGA) signal, your TV would still get a 480p signal and the game graphics would occupy only one fourth of the display area. Does it make sense?

For me, a patch with good subtitles in a first time will be an amazing things even if the FMVs are not in the center of the screen.
if you want I can give the FMVs in 640*480 but the quality will be a little less (I sample with TMPGEnc).
    Thanks again.

    Hi @japanese_cake

I have recently found and uploaded The Ring with a working VGA patch made by PAROVOZ. But the problem is that the patch is intended to work with the DCRes rip. I was wondering if you could take a look at the patch and see what can be done to get it working on the GDI. Here's the link to the patch.

    Thanks.
