I don't think it is right to murder someone for drawing a picture, but I am not an extremist. I'm not stupid enough to 'test the water' though.

Taking a picture though, for example tubgirl or goatse... I think that may qualify.

Here is the Danish version. Sung by Eddie Skoller

GP: I actually follow you a long stretch, when it comes to my thought upon Christianity. I follow the teachings of JC too, But then again what he taught was something I actually also know from Buddhism, and his sentence "do to others what you want them to do to you" is actually from Confucius saying "do not do to others what you do not want them to do to you". JC just removed the two "nots" in his sentence. It is no wonder why quite a few Buddhists over the years has read the sayings, and scriptures of JC.

But to simplify my point when it comes to God, and all that jazz. Then it is.. I believe in God, and I follow the karma rule of behaving, but I curse and shout at times. Since I am not perfect. But I am trying hard to be a good human being, even though it is not always seen in my posts. And okay sorry to derail the thread again. Yes, I am a Christian, but not in the way that JC was the all mighty son of God. But I am a Christian in the way of following JCs teachings.

    Back to the Mohammed stuff.

If you're going to use religion as an example, you should at least get it right.

JC was known for "turn the other cheek" not "an eye for an eye."

Speaking of Jesus Christ,in Islam he is a messenger of God,not the Son of God.
If you study the Qur'an you will found out that it says he was not killed/crucified but was raised to heaven.

Like I said I like to study religions,Im not religious at all but I thought someone would find this interesting.

Perhaps I'm missing something about the purpose behind the cartoons, but all this crap pisses me off. Why deliberately provoke people? Why not respect what a religion/people want? Saying it is about freedom of speech is a bit rich - it should be allowed, but people should have more respect than to do so as religion is the central pillar in many people's lives, much more so in Islam etc.

Obviously the joke might appear slightly coy to us, but thats because many in the west just don't give a shit about those that have been (massively) offended by this. Just because of that or you don't agree with their religion/a small faction of them doesn't mean you should take the piss out of one of the closest things to all of them. More tit for tat bullshit that causes wars.

Would you allow a characateur of a disabled baby being raped? It has as much relevance as drawing Mohammed surely?

Well when people make death threats because there religion gets criticized thats when I have a problem, why should I show respect then.

As for the characateur of a disabled baby being raped, its something I would not approve of but Im not going to make death threats over it.

In the West, and especially in the US where this started, freedom of speech is just as sacroscant to the populace as Mohammed is to believers of Islam, if not more so.

So what you're seeing is a protest of the affront against freedom of speech by a group of Muslim fanatics rather than just a simple attempt to provoke a group of people.

Eeerhm , well I declare that . That I think Science has a lot more to say. But that does not mean I do not believe in God, and in my mind there is no conflict. But then again it is maybe because I do not go so much up in religion so there is a conflict.

Quoted for truth. I think it is very irritating that it's mostly islamic people who demand for tolerance towards their religion and traditions. Well, I have no problem with them as long as they tolerate the rest of the world as it is. But what do get everyday? Death threats against Danish cartoonists, death threats against American animators, death threats against whole countries. It's ridiculous, imagine this shit happens in the name of a religion that's supposed to be peaceful! How can anyone take those threats seriously if not because of the very real acts of violence that have happened?
Otherwise those death threats for a cartoon Muhammed or a South Park-Muhammed would have been declared outright stupid and nobody would've cared. And I still believe no one should care, they've gotta learn it someday that not everyone is as stone-age as they are. Most of the people aren't, also a big part of their fellow muslims aren't.

I think the vast majority of religious people of whatever belief is peaceful, but you'll always get your small percentage of braindead fundamentalists, it's just that the media focus more on some than on others. If you want the christian variety, search, for example, for "Hutaree" - I'm sure there's lots more out there. If you only search hard enough you might even find some zen buddhists out to kill you.

For some reason, Islam seems to get more retards than other religions though. Or maybe it's just that those few are all attention whores trying to get on TV, instead of quietly training in the woods like the Hutaree guys?)
