Dreamcast VGA box & Scanline generator

Hi ! I received my Hanzo a few weeks earlier I works very well, thanks !

Games from NGDevTeam (GunLord, Last Hope Pink Buleets and soon Neo XYX look definitely better now with scanlines, that's very cool !

Do you guys also enable scanlines in games in the native 640*480 resolution ? I'm never sure whether I should or not. I know it would make me lose half of the lines but... May it give the picture a crisper look ?

 

It sounds like this Kenzei may not do what I need after all...

I'm looking for a way to get both 15khz RGB and 31khz VGA signals from a single SCART cable. In other words, your Hanzo would work perfectly if it had a SCART output instead of a VGA output. I was hoping this Kenzei would be an add-on to the Hanzo, allowing me to connect it to my TV via SCART and still have the option of 15khz or 31khz. Is there any way I can make it work like this?

 

Kenzei does what you said exactly, there is also an "unnamed" sync separator project we're talking currently. Small run, just a few units maybe.
Kenzei combines the syncs not separating them. So you can have both modes through Scart. However TVs can't accept 31khz video through scart. This mode is mainly for XRGB, etc.

 

Hi. I'd like to order a black Hanzo and a scanliner cable. If you have any Dreamcast logo ones left I would like one of those but it looks like you sold out. Please let me know if you have any other special editions or colours.

Great! Kenzei may work for me after all! I actually don't have the SCART cable going directly to the TV right now. It first goes to a RGB (SCART) to Component (YUV) Video Converter, and then this is connected to my TV with component video cables. Hopefully this converter will be able to handle both the 15kHz and 31kHz signals...

 

OK. Scanlinercable was 2 $ more, right? Couldn't find a price in the first posting. Last questions: Could you make me a "case" such the ones for the Hanzos for one of this? Or can tell me, where else I can find something like?

And it said: "RGB/CGA/EGA/YUV To VGA HD". Would it work to put an Hanzo on it to upscale the vga signal or not? Idea is, if I can use it for boath, upscaler for Scart (Mega Drive, Saturn, etc) and VGA (Dreamcast) to HD. Sorry for all the asking.

 

Yes, you can use it to upscale DC and other consoles, also Hanzo+Scanliner combo can add scanlines feature to these consoles. Scanliner cable is $7. So Sync Separator+ Scanliner cable + shipping= $52

I can design a plexi case, first I need to order one of those converters. If you can't wait for a month, Arcadeforge.de has it...

As I planned the same and Bahrius explained it already: The Hanzo isn't made for this at first. It is an VGA-Box for Dreamcast. With the scanliner-cable you can use it as a scanline-generator with any VGA-Source. SNES doesn't support VGA natively. So you need a little bit more. You would need a Sync Separator with VGA (HD15) from Baharius, too. As far as I understand, then you could us it on any Monitor that supports 15KHz over VGA. Most LCD-TV won't. My PC-Monitor doesn't either. To solve this problem, you could use an upscaler, which converts the signal from 15 KHz to 31 Khz. Such as:
