I think the video of The Last Guardian was my favourite part of Sony's conference, and definitely the new Metroid game from Nintendo's.
ModNation Racers looks very cool, however I didnt use the customization tools for levels in Little Big Planet ( i guess I don't have that much free time lol). If I do play it, I'll do like I did in LBP and just play other's work . I get paid to be creative every day. I don't want to do it for free when I'm resting during the weekend :110:
Natal: What happens if you're skin is dark? Does it work? What happens if you have children running by? A cat? A dog? It's priced for $199, who the fuck is going to pay that? Xbox 360: $299 Natal: $199 Xbox live: $40 $538 ?
because..? To be honest, as a person who owns all current generation consoles , I think there was something for everyone out there. I ve taken note of what I want to get for each console but so far I m mostly excited about the new Metroid and Mario games, as an avid oldschooler, and maybe GT5/Forza (although I ve beaten prologue to death, I ll have to wait and see if I ll have the time to get into the aforementioned games, considering their size). Sony's motion control stuff didn't excite me at all actually, it's far off from a real product and more like a tech demo of "what if". The motion-plus on the other hand is very real, although I have yet to see something that will make me want one badly - except maybe No More Heroes 2. Talking about winners on such a forum is just evidence of gaming immaturity. Most of us here understand that taste is subjective and really aren't in the mood to start any willy-waving contests. It's also a fact of life that any gaming platform that has had a good penetration rate does have something unique to offer, so why choose when you can have it all? oh, unless daddy's paying the bills :110:
Good points, and besides Milo's interesting tech demo, I need something more applicable to convince me that 200 bucks and a big piece of kit is worth the effort. It has been already demonstrated by the wii that "interactive" gaming does have an appeal but it's a limited one. It's not the sort of thing you strive to play most of the time, especially when you get home after a drunk/stoned night out, or are just tired. I was hoping MS would present a new wheel for the 360 in tandem with the promotion of the new Forza game because realism in driving sims goes as far as your less-realistic component.
ModNation Racers is a great looking game and the kind of thing i like and i'd buy a ps3 to play that and GT5 which to me is much more interesting that forza 3 although forza 3 is probably an excelent game. I would say microsoft was the best conference at e3 for me at least although sony were actually pretty good but i got bored of the nintendo one as only half listened to it when browsing other websites. So i guess i now want to get a PS3 more and a wii less because if i really wanted to i could just go to my sisters and play her wii and it means i don't have to own one and what i save by not owning one can go towards a ps3, i'd still like a 360 too.
Truely, no one won. The lack of excitement is palpable. What should have been happening was a new xbox press release for next year, maybe some pre-renders. This generation has been so boring.
you guys just flat out don't play games, do you? The next next gen is all the new features current systems are getting. I see no problem.
You could do the same with the Wii. The Wii costs $250, while wii play is $50 for a 2nd remote, and wii fit is $90. That's a $400 bundle right there with no real games, yet people are buying this stuff. It's something that many consumers are more open to when the initial cost of the console is lower. MS should just sell it separately and market the shit out of it. People could then get it along with an arcade model. This is probably still a year off, so the arcade could cost $150 by then for all we know.
GT5 has Nascar and Rally so that you can have damage on vehicles without offending the street car manufacturers in "normal" GT mode. Clever. Sony's show was ok. I thought the motion demo was great and I agree that the controller looks like it will work better than the camera only movement tracking, but it struck me as being a longer time away to launch. Even though Sony has been showing this stuff for years now, it's still not available. God Of War 3... meh. It looks last gen. The PSP is really gaining momentum again, 50 million sold so far too? Amazing. Really disappointed that there is no mention of MGS for the PS3. I thought it was meant to be multi format this time around. I found it odd it did not appear as a stage announcement. Sure the PSP game looks nice, but after the XB360 annoucement I was surprised not to see it.
Yeah, that's kinda how I feel. But I'll probably buy it anyway since I love Metroid. Plus, I don't think it's entirely developed by Team Ninja, so maybe it won't suck so bad. Don't get me wrong, I love DOA, it's just that Ninja Gaiden really wears me out after a while. On the whole, I was pretty pleased with the Nintendo conference. Granted, most of it was pretty boring, but they revealed two new Mario's for the Wii (a 2D one!) and a new Metroid. I don't see how it could've been much better.
Looks like Natal works. http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/989/989269p1.html http://xbox360.gamespy.com/xbox-360/lionhead-mylo-project/989285p1.html http://kotaku.com/5275204/testing-molyneuxs-milo-a-virtual-boy-with-yes-a-dog
The demo of the weird guy in the orange jump suit was all over the place, and that was just the Mii rip-off avatar. It doesn't look as accurate, but it is early days I guess. Also that stage was very brightly lit. It would be interesting to see how well it tracks in a home environment.
