Hypothetical question. When Microsoft leaves the console race, Who replaces them?

 

I also hate the fact that the Xbox One has no 360 support by default. To get it you have to get the Xbox Mini and even then it's only software emulation and you can only download the games from Xbox Live. Sure the Mini can be hooked to the One but still...

Then there's the whole "got to be online to play", "no used games", and "Kinect REQUIRED" deal. What if your ISP is down for more than 24 hours due to some kind of horrendous failure? What if you don't like a game after 5 minutes and want to get your money back by selling it? And, WORST OF ALL, how do we know that MS won't be watching through the Kinect while fapping away to porn on Direct TV adult channels or something like that?

 

It's Nintendo. And their back is against a wall. Tomorrow they will unleash an unholy torrent of pure gaming bliss that will render everything that occurred today obsolete. Reference: The 3DS.

I'm optimistic m'self, although since they've revealed a fuckton of amazing 3DS titles already via Nintendo Direct, I'm betting E3 will be more WiiU-centric; I'm also guessing that Super Smash Brothers Fisticuffs[SUP]®[/SUP] alone will do well in driving WiiU sales. However, since Ninty's console is already out, they won't have the same level of excitement for a console reveal, unlike Sony and Microsoft (the "excitement" for the latter being debatable).

 

Buy a GPU and join Steam like the rest of us.

 

What makes me a fanboy exactly? I'm cheering good games, anti consumer policies being put in their place and between Nintendo and Sony showing now favoritsim towards either. What ever problem you're having don't take it out on us.

By the way last I knew this was a gamer forum. aren't we SUPPOSED to get excited about new consoles?

 

Best Sony conference in years. I think we're back to the playstation 1 vs 3DO days. The big question that will come out when the smoke clears is how could microsoft let this happen? Everything they built with the original xbox and 360 is just gone except for the very hardcore fans who will buy xbox anything.

I was totally expecting a higher price point for the PS4 but man did they nail it, I just had an inkling in the back of my mind that Sony may screw it up again as they did with the PS3 reveal but now with their stance on DRM, the new IP's coming out ( The Dark Sorcerer trailer was STUNNING ) and their relationship with Indie developers makes me very very confident in buying a PS4 on launch day.

I felt a bit gutted that they've taken away the free online service with non PS+ members, but as someone else pointed out doing it for 7 years was a good run and It's justifiable that they've put a price point on it considering how much funds and resources are going to have to be put in for the Gaikai/Cloud service... I honestly don't mind paying the $5 per month.

 

Hehe. I think I was in 7th or 8th grade when it came out. That down hill ESPN demo & toshindin 1 kept me and my friend busy for a few weekends. =P

Funny that I worked on what was probably one of the last 10 or so ps1 games published in USA (god awful kids game but oh well).

 

Sony has pull the same trick like they did in E3 press conference 1995 that kills off Sega Saturn. History repeat again at Sony E3 Press conference 2000 slowly killing off the Dreamcast with price tag.

Once again Sony has that famous signature quote since 1994 " Don't underestimate the power of Playstation"

However It way too early to say that Microsoft is the next Sega shadow.

I believe in my opinion that XBOXone will do okay in the market for many years to come but I don't believe it won't have same level of success like XBOX360 did.

Time will tell


Sadly, I prefer Sega than Microsoft.

I guess PS4 is not for you then. You sound ridiculous while ranting PS4 or XBOXone console design. This isn't a fashion show by the way. I rather have a horrible design console than lacking of games and spec.

 

About the same for me I never had one but I played my Cousins. He bought any game I told him to HA. We spent HOURS on Ridge Racer the weird things I'd play that to seeing as it let you take the game out and put a CD in.

Good times.

 

The PS 4 looks like the PS 2, probably abit on purpose. The design is pretty slick.

On another note...

How does Microsoft release a less powerful console for $100 more? That just cannot succeed.

If MS has any sense they'll have a new event in August and announce the "new" Xbox One, with all the issues (price/DRM/etc) fixed. If they don't, they won't make it past year two.

And anyone who said the Wii U was going to fail has to feel pretty goddamn foolish now.
