Johny I agree with you. Years ago, magazines were used to put images from other platforms and tell they were pics from the "X" platform to make people be interested on their articles. Nowdays, and fortunately, we're reported properly and we catch them when they try to do something similar ;) .

This is a great post. You know it's funny that this earlier version of daytona looks better then the final. The version of panzer dragoon looks ugly though. I remember that when am2 was porting virtua fighter 2, they said that it was possible to include shun di's stage in all it;s glory, they even had it running, but said that they couldn't get it done due to the dead line they had. Anyone have pics of it? Also is it true that ecco for dreamcast is really just the abandon ecco for saturn?

I could see a video of "Ecco" for Saturn (bad quality, but enough to catch its "soul") and it had a marvellous movement, very soft. As you can see in the pics, the dolphins had a good polygonization (I don't know if this word exist in Enlgish, he he he) but the place was made almost all combining sprites and polygons for plane surfaces what makes it different from the Dreamcast version. However, because of the appearance and ambient, I think that the Dreamcast version began from the old work done in Saturn.

About the "Panzer Dragoon" video I haven't been able to see this in live, but one of the persons with who I exchange this kind of stuff said this suffer "clipping" deffects. It's normal taking in account that this is a very early beta. Anyway, I think it's interesting to know the real origin of some games.

    Salutes :) .

O.K. I have the early videos of Daytona and Panzer Dragoon encoded. I need someone to host the files, they are 20MB each compressed.

    Volunteers?

Oh yeah. Remember when Microsoft released pics of AMPED Snowboard game, using Photoshop to improve the quality.

    That was discovered fast :axe:

I can't believe assembler, our tech-savvy fearless leader, gave up on the torrent. :)

I have a handout (Japanese) with the pre-launch Saturn (Silver). Also says on it, "official name changed". They changed it from the Saturn to the Sega Saturn (for the logo).

I could easily post that if there's any interest. The logos on it look the exact same as the Gold one posted above.

Bittorrent makes me scream sometimes. I have to use a special version that limits bandwidth or else my provider will throttle me.
    I can't get BT++ to seed a torrent... bah.

Sounds like you need a new provider. I let mine fly, at 300kb/s x 2 or 3 files. :)

All ISPs do that. Either cable or DSL. You can only d/l and u/l so much until they kill your connection and you have to go and reset your modem.

Theres a way around it but if you get caught they cut your service and slap you with a $1,000. That happened to my friend, he was able to get 4megabyte/sec download/upload by doing something with their servers. They noticed it, called him, cut the connection, next day, he recieved the subpeona.

Is it possible that maybe this version was abandon due to frame rate? Maybe it's the encoding of the video (not a knock at assembler i give him hats off for going through this to share it with us), but looking at it the framerate was slightly not steady, so maybe it also was a speed issue and they didn't have time to fix it maybe?

What you are seeing is the actual game. The speed jumps from 320 km to 125, then back to 290 in a second. The controls and physics have yet to be tuned. severe pop-up is also seen.

I have never heard this. I guess I'll find out as I don't plan on slowing down my downloads. I can't imagine that shit going on too long in America. Before I left, there was a thing called false-advertisement (why can they advertise 3Mb download speeds if you can't use them?)

Well I've heard they do this becuase there are too many ppl on the line and that if one person is hogging bandwith, everyone elses will go down dramatically to 56K speed. I believer thats utter Bullsh** because they have the right hardware and the network can handle it.

Its all about money though, the more speed you want, you'd have to go with T1 cable but the lowest I found for that was $300 month and the speed is only a lil bit faster than cable but with T1, there are spectrums within it. A full T1 can do 25Megabytes but a T1 at a single spectrum is like 128KBytes.

Also they do false advertise. The thing is, 56k is actually 56kilyBITs. Divide 56kb by 8 bits and you get 7kilo bytes. They all advertise in bits, not bytes. 3mb connection is actually: 375kiloBYTEs. SO if your download speed ist 375KB, then you are getting what you pay for.

Cable is just tied into T1 lines, They have to link the cable to the internet via high speed backbone (phone company usually owns) it costs them money when ( as I used to before policy change) I transfer terabytes of data weekly.

Yeah, sounds bullshitty. Japan went from worst in the world to best in the world in just a couple of years. I've got 30Mb cable, and the've never said shit to me. Same w/ my 100Mb Fibre in my old house. Guess I'll have to get used to that.

Just saw the Daytona video. While not as early in development as the pictures shown it still has many differences from the final game. The pop up seems to be the same. The car's bonnet (Hood) doesn't move on angles (normally tilts from side to side). The reflections on the car's window don't move too. Nice video all around :smt023
