There was a Game in Limerick since at least 1995, and I don't think there were any EBs in Ireland. We have GameStop now, too - they took over GameSomethingElse a couple of years ago...

Before it was called EB (Electronics Boutique sp?) it was called something else but I forget now. Anyway, yes GAME bought the EB chain and changed them all in to GAME.

Johnny, that's pretty cool stuff about GT2000 there - I totally forgot about that! Now, I just wonder if any copies of it are floating around...?

Yes there is, I worked for Electronic Boutique and my store had the video. It's got a red cars slip cover with a picture of the Saturn on it and there is a white lable on the spine with Sega Promo 1997 or silimar printed on it.

Is it the SEGA infomercial video? That would rock.

It was also broadcasted in May 1997, in the middle of the night (!?). The disc that came with
Saturn power #3 had the background music on it. (for download at my site btw)

    Would love to see that.

That footage you talk about being broadcasted was shown on Channel 4 in the UK. The VF3 section is just the same as the movie shown on the Dreamcast VF3tb after you complete the game. As for the video that EB had that also didn't show the Saturn version of VF3. I know that video.

So the televised infomercial and promotional video contains the same early arcade footage of Virtua Fighter 3 as seen at the 1996 E3 (and also later in the Dreamcast version of Team Battle)? The search for that elusive clip of the Aoi tech demo continues... if such a thing really exists in the first place, that is! Considering the length of the VF3 clip, that advert must have been really long (and probably quite expensive), which may explain why it was only broadcast once then left to play in stores. The real question is why such a tape has yet to appear on the 'net - I for one would be more than pleased to see it again, especially since it's the only source for official direct feed Saturn Quake footage! Then again, knowing how many times Saturn enthusiasts have been disappointed in the past it's probably nothing more than the PC version. Everything else described as being on this video can be found on the Sega Flash discs, so maybe it's not worth the effort after all?

I don't actually own the full game but a demo/promotion disc. I took these shots myself which is why I plasted them with my site's logo :D Don't want others ripping them off as their own.

Saturn isn't xbox 360 you know. You have to compare it to what was avilable at the time, and what was available when it was being worked on (meaning you can't compare it to gran tourismo).

Mario 64 looks like shit today, but it doesn't discount the gameplay.

Yeah, Millennium Fire was a light gun game that also made special use of the Virtua Gun's start button. It allowed you to perform a type of 360 roll to dodge stuff. Sort of like how Namco's time crisis lets you duck behind objects. The crazy thing is that there's no pause since that's what the Virtua Gun's start button is for. I wonder if you plug a controller in to port two and use that as the pause ? Anyway, the game does look like shit. The stills make it look better but in reality it's very ugly. Textures are low and even a bit PSX bendy !! Animation is a bit dodgy too plus everywhere looks almost the same. True it's unfinished but I seriously doubt the graphics would have changed that much.
