[C est le genre d'objet qui faut mettre sur ebay.usa pas sur ebay.fr ( pas bien de "baleines" collectionneurs en France...), mais tu as bien fait de poster ici ^^.]

    Very nice item.

I think it's not very rare as you said, you can see them of Yahoo Japan Auction quite a bit, I have seen more than ten definitley. How do you know that less than 100 were made?

Lol, it looks exactly like the doshin sample disk that was sold 2 weeks ago on Yahoo Japan (with an "empty" casing just like in your auction).

    I call BS!

I have never seen any on yahoo auction as far as I know of. Aren't you mistaking it for the retail Doshin no kyoshin game ? (which is not rare at all)

This one was a not for resale sample for the DD, considering how rare the 64DD and its games are, you can guess on how rare this one is.

About the number produced there is some kind of serial number on the back of the disc, I compared it with ones of 2 other discs pictures existing on the internet, and only 2 digits change which are probably a number between 00 and 99.

Basically the serial looks that way C0XXC04 (the XX are the 2 digits that changed)

For instance one of the Disc had C089C04, another had C017C04. Mine is the C099C04

For instance here is a pics of another sample : http://lan.st/pics/Doshinsample/DSC00683.jpg and http://lan.st/pics/Doshinsample/DSC00686.jpg

Here is the serial from mine (you can also check it out in the ebay auction pics) http://lan.st/pics/Doshinsample/P0103080006.jpg

another pic still from my version : http://lan.st/pics/Doshinsample/P0103080000.jpg

Of course there is no way to be entirely sure that there was less than 100 units produced, only nintendo know the exact number. I could not find other pics/traces of serials from this disc due to how rare it is. (There is no doubt this is still the rarest 64DD retail disc ever produced) If you think you can find it for sale elsewhere, I am looking forward to seing you post about it. (although I more than highly doubt you will find it anywhere else)

You missed out on getting a great deal by a few days, then. It was originally marked at sixty some odd dollars with the requirement that you add PayPal fees, etc to make it $70 even. :katamari:

Hum.. Find more of these over the internet and we'll see.

I have no recall of one sold on yahoo auction so far. I have had mine for quite sometimes now, I bought it in assemblergames months ago (got very lucky) after having looked for it for over a year. I can even find the selling thread for you if you really want me to. BTW it was not cheap.

Also this disc is much rarer than Doshin the Giant 2 and when you see that it is sold for arround 250 euros (and if it is mint for that price you are lucky) You can guess how much the doshin sample is worth. (and I still can find a few doshin the giant 2 for sale on ebay), so far the Doshin sample I am selling has been the only one ever for sale on ebay so far.

EDIT: I bought it from Princess-Isabela here http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17142 although she seems to have deleted mentions of it after she sold the item. You can still see me mentionning that I will buy it here http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showpost.php?p=260727&postcount=33 And you can see my post in the feedback thread here : http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showpost.php?p=264071&postcount=690

So indeed I did not buy it 2 weeks ago...

Now if you can find more than 10 people claiming to possess this item on the internet you have my blessing.

It's not that rare at all nowadays, and the number of sample disks, are in the hundreds, dirst there were the randnet road show disks, then the store sample disks, then the sample disks sent out for reviewers to prview the game, and the estimate of disks is at around 100 or more.

You are asking for 400 odd dollars, it sold for lesss than fifteen 2 weeks ago in japan, and it also comes free with most retail display units sold on yahoo japan.

BTW Shiggsy is one of the most knowledgable people in the whole entire world on Nintendo 64 and 64dd, so please don't argue with people like that.

You are also talking BS about this being the first on ebay. This has been sold with retail units on ebay before. Also it is not as coveted as the randnet Doshin append disk for the simple reason, this is nothing more than a reatil promo disk, that you cannot save to.

Sure some crazy collector might want it, but us true 64DD collectors know this is nothing more than a simple curiousity, and nowhere near as rare or as coveted as the doshin append disk.
If this was on a blue disk, then fair enough 400 dollars, but it's greay and the simple fact is that n one really cares about it that much anymore unfortunately. Still a nice item to have though, but be realistic about it's current value.

I did not know about those 2 samples. Found anymore of those though ?
Nekokabu is known to acquire (collect) rare items though, I highly doubt the sample he got is for sale. He even claims ( I can read Japanese ) That has always been looking for the Doshin sample and that he finally got his hands on it which makes his 64DD collection complete. So from his comment it does not like getting this sample (even in Japan) is easy task at all.

For those who can read Japanese I pasted the original comment about it from his blog here:

I dont have to, I too have also seen a lot more than 10 sold on yahoo japan.

And yes, as someone else noted who also saw the auction 2 weeks ago, the price ended at below $15. Sure thats Japan, but even with the standard markup I cant see someone (sane) paying more than €100 in Europe.

Ok....someone has been trying to sell a Doshin 2 on Yahoo Japan now for about a month for 138 Euros (its still there). Re-listed a few times. Someone else tried to sell Doshin 2 for 108 Euros last month, no takers so it was re-listed at 84 euros. Im not sure if it sold as I didnt watch the auction end but I didnt see any bids.

If you mean the auction link Juste just pasted, I hardly see how 25000 JPY can convert into 15 USD....

100Euros is far below the price I got it myself, and I don't see anyone even in Japan getting it for that price unless he gets extreamely lucky.

84 Euros? Where did you see Doshin2 for that price? In Japan ?

I did not see it on ebay for less than 200 Euros, and I looked often.

No, I thought you could read japanese? Im talking about an auction that ended about 2 weeks ago, the link Juste pasted was for a 64dd + doshin sample that ended in April.

Thats 2 in the last 2 months, Im sure Ive seen 2-3 more this year alone on yahoo japan.

Oh and I have 1 or 2 of the Doshin sample's at home too :)

Im also sure a few of the members here on assembler have mentioned owning the sample disk...

Well I paid arround 250 euros for it myself and I know how rare and difficult it is to get it. There is no way I am selling it for less than what I paid it for. If you don't want/need it or can have tons of it for low price (or so you claim) good for you.
