Playstation2 Linux kit (without monitor) (Canada)

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Playstation-2-dev-kit-PS2-Linux-game-development_W0QQitemZ190154653351QQihZ009QQcategoryZ62054QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Despite the current owners insistence that $600 BIN is a good price, I've not seen one reach $800 recently, did anyone else? Starting bid $200 so you might get it for that.

My kit, which was mostly brand new and unused cost approximately $100 all in as I shopped around for the various parts.

Not a bargain using BIN, but when are they ever?

That price makes no sense, I can't see the linux dev kit worth that much. I too have seen and passed them up and they were much cheaper....
I can't comment on the mouse/keyboard as I dont how rare they are or even if there part of the auction! :)

As collectables then the PS2 mouse and keyboard are good, as something to use then you'd be better off buying a decent USB keyboard and optical mouse.

My wife actually prefers them to her current Microsoft keyboard and mouse. She wants a set on her PC believe it or not. I can see what she means - the mouse is very small and cups in you hand so causes less strain and the keyboard is perfectly raised and angled for typing. Nice buttons, good weight.

Personally I prefer my mini Microsoft optical mouse, but I wouldn't say no to using the keyboard.

All in all for £4 I was happy as a pig in the proverbial!

Im sorry if thats incorrect netiquette. Im just a quiet person and I like to read much more than talking or in this case posting.

    Thanks :D

I might be wrong about this, however I suspect that the image is a "stock" image of a PS2 Tool. I have most definately seen this particular unit before because at the time I was interested in it. I remember the box, I remember the particular layout and also the red & yellow boxes in one of the images as I wondered what they were. Not sure whether perhaps the seller failed to auction the unit, whether it was pulled or whatever but it was some time ago - not within the last few weeks shall we say!

Seller MAY have access to more than one set and be using an image he already had. I'd ask before diving in.

Yaroze access cards are essential if you wish to use the NY for any kind of development "officially" - apparently there are ways & means, but if (as I suspect from our conversations) you are a collector interested in having a "complete" set then you would be very hard pressed to find a NY Access Card on it's own.

They do make exceptionally nice items in a collection however and you never know when another unit is going to appear with a card ;-)

I've seen them in the UK & mainland Europe for around about the same sort of price, however one was sold the other day for £56 that was complete and fully boxed with EVERYTHING which was a shock to a few of us Sony collectors! :eek:h:

Ah that would explain it. In that case I would ask for a specific image to ensure that what you get resembles the one in the image and not a pile of broken bits in a series of egg cartons lol
