Thanks for posting! First one I have ever seen too :encouragement:

Do you know what kind of power Nintendo has on stopping the sale of this? Is legal action an option? I'm just curious :)

    "Disassembly Prohibited" :highly_amused:

They can have it removed, Microsoft does it all of the time. Either that or Microsoft has scared ebay so bad that they scan for xdk's constantly on purge them from their site.

Technically whoever is licensed to have this console is legally not permitted to sell it. With the serial number on there they could find who the original owner, interrogate him as to who has it now, and eventually retrieve their console (unless it's passed hands so many times they can't track it down).

With how new the Wii U is i wouldn't suspect it was sold in an estate sale, it may even be stolen for all we know.

Ok, thanks. The first thing that popped into my head after reading that they didn't have any of the software was that it was stolen. It seems like it would be hard to misplace your software that is less than a year old. If they were a legit dev they could probably call nintendo and try to get new software since games are still actively being developed. Seems fishy to me :suspicion:

The tag on it says "Must be returned by November 2011. Acceptance period August - November."
This thing in ancient. Probably predates the Wiius E3 announcement by a year or more.

Probably get dumped in a box when the new model came along. Not too fishy, I would say.

It always surprises me how well people can keep secrets. This was floating around in August 2011 anf the internet didn't hear about the controller until a week before E3 2012. We didn't even get a plausible sketch. None of them looked like this.

You do bring up a good point. I guess we have no real way to prove exactly where it came from but I have a feeling your right with the idea that it was just thrown in a box somewhere because of it was replaced by something newer.
You just blew my mind :hororr: That is extremely impressive to think about. I can't imagine having that in my possession and not showing anybody though!

The "60" number comes from a wikipedia article and isn't cited.

Old Engineer who was quite the reputable source said a few years back there were 10 made, but I honestly doubt that.

Way too much for it not having a lot of the pieces. Wouldnt even consider it at that price.

More than one MS employee has said that more than 60 had to have been made. One said at least 250.

I'm sure it's not 10. I have one and I've seen way more than 10 on ebay, assuming they're different ones.

It's questionable. Many were not bought either, so probably were destroyed. That 60 number was made up though, so many things are incorrect on that wikipedia page. My wiki is more accurate ;) since information is submitted by better sources, they know who they are.
