Because there's no USB cables, TDEVs without the USB cable are just NR Readers, they're pretty much useless.

He knows, he's just not listing them as what they really are so they don't get removed. Like most of his other stuff they've all been opened and the shielding on the inside of the case has been removed.

I would really like to know why someone would open a bunch of consoles and take the shielding out...

I'm selling some N64 cart-only games in order to fund an Everdrive for Micro-64. An Everdrive would make it much easier to write about beta games. Here's my auctions:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/300917229687
Bottom of the 9th, Roadsters, Extreme G, Pokemon Snap, Army Men Air Combat, Jet Force Gemini.

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/300917232739
Fifa 98, Re-Volt, Shadowman, MRC, Quest 64, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six grey variant.

The rest of the stuff I listed on ebay has sold so once those two sell I'll have enough for an Everdrive.

I'd love to know too. I assume you know this sellers situation? I forget if you were around in chat or not for it...

Anyways, he won an auction for a storage shed and it was littered with Xbox stuff by someone named Eric Keefe (that name sounds so familiar, but I can't remember who it was). He apparently went to Iraq or Afgan. I don't know anything more than that.

The seller is legit, I talked to him personally for hours letting him know what he had and that he can't sell saying what they are without telling people that they were opened, and possibly modified. He's new to ebay but does ship what you order.

The debug kits (I think) Have halo beta on, the one that's been online for awhile now. They all may not, I'm not sure, but the one he checked for me did.

I'm personally not interested in something that's been open like that. But that's just me. The dvt-4 he sent me is legit, even though it had a custom jewel on the case. Kernel debugger/dvd emulator worked as should. It looks like it was never open, but who knows.

Good seller, I can rep for him, just ask him questions if you're unsure. He'll answer.

I removed the shielding on all my consoles since it gets in the way of mods, repairs, etc. and doesn't do anything anymore. It was for back in the day when TV signals and other stuff were easily affected by interference from other electronic devices. With the better signals used nowadays interference is very low. I've had several consoles with the shielding removed running at one time and didn't have any interference issues with anything at all.

It also reduces weight. Sometimes quite a lot like is the case (no pun intended) on my model 1 Sega CD. Thing had a few layers of metal at some points...

I thought the shielding helped direct airflow to improve the efficiency of the fan? It would force the air to be sucked from closer to the hot components rather than from the air against the top of the console.
