I know there are at least 5 people who have it for sure (this is including trevor). There might be a couple more people who have it.
After some exploring/messing around I started a normal playthrough since I wanted to view the story related scenes in order. http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLP8Np1fF-_WsWwp9FVJ78mFak4Am5rtcg

Character order changes outside of battle and you can play as characters other than Maxim in dungeons:

A Japanese fan told me this was a Capsule Monster Coloseum. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wIdk-Po9yQ
It probably means they planned Capsule Monster battles here.

Speaking of Capsule Monsters, they're unlockable via debug mode, but it always changes to Foomy in battle. Also, Foomy does nothing in battle (he's good for a meat shield though =P) he doesn't gain any EXP either. The evolutions order of some Capsule monsters are different.

I am so glad you got the rom now. Now my heart can rest in peace because I know now that this proto will never be lost. Private or not, I don't care; it will never be lost.

How has the restoration went? Has the ROM managed to be fixed? Or is it still a bit of a mess?

Even if this ROM doesn't get released, it's still really cool seeing all of the differences you've shared!

Hi guys,

I realized it was selfish to keep the ROM for myself. I'm sorry if I offended those who helped me, I didn't mean to. I read the whole thread all over again and now I understand why people were angry. So here's the ROM for everyone to download. Thanks again to JLukas, Sinrevi and everyone who helped.

- Original, unmodified ROM:

- Fixed ROM:

http://depositfiles.com/files/yprps5ana

- Bugfix IPS patch

Have fun.

Best Regards,
Trevor.

And there the ride finally ends. I am still heart broken on the day the bad dump happened and thought the proto of my most favourite SNES rpg would be lost forever. Thanks to the community this is not the case - Trevor for re-buying the proto and the community for fixing the rom. Hopefully the community can fix the rom even more now (people from cutting room floor..?) and maybe the bosses can be fixed too (assuming they are currently corrupted)

Anyways, thanks for the release trevor and everyone else for helping out make this happen! Most likely I will do another run of Lufia 2 (or lufia 1 where I live.. we never got the real Lufia 1) on my SNES and the proto on an emulator to celebrate.

Very nice trevor ^_^

I suggest playing the game with debug mode on.

Some debug mode controls are different from the final version. (final version controls: http://tcrf.net/Lufia_II:_Rise_of_the_Sinistrals )

Code for debug mode: 7E057CFF

(these are all for controller 1)

This is what I found so far:

(general)
Start : Calls the debug menu
Y button: Dash (can walk through walls while dashing)
R + up (or down) : Scrolls through sprites. Doesn't work in dungeons and the overworld.
Select : calls battles (doesn't work in dungeons)

(on overworld)
A calls "Air Excerion" but it crashed the game with the rom I had. haven't tried calling the Excerion yet with trevor's rom.

(in Menu)
L+X
on "Capsule" unlocks all Capsule Monsters
on "Spells" adds spells to Maxim's spell list

(in Capsule Monster menu)
Pressing X feeds Capsule Monsters but I'm not sure how to unlock the Master evolution form in the proto via debug. Also don't know where to get Capsule Monster fruit since this game is incomplete and the Egg Dragon is not in his shrine. Maybe the Capsule Monsters can reach M evolution with item codes =P

Also handy, a teleport code: 7E05AEXX
Change XX with something else to change the location (There's a unfinished list with locations somewhere in this thread)

Storyline difference: Tia and Selan never show up in the Ancient Tower, Maxim sends Guy and Dekar to Parcelyte.

First difference found between 'corrupted rom' and before it was corrupted:

http://youtu.be/ovxF5pEcz80?t=12m2s (that video is from before the bad dump happened)

Here you see the fire in the cave still animated, while it no longer animates in the released rom (for me that is)

Of course a screenshot don't say much but look for yourself. Anyways, all this really proves is that the rom is not 100% fixed yet (and question is if it ever will).

Maxim and Selan's dialogue is in the inn instead of on the bridge.

Major bug found: If you go to bed and don't have enough money, your money goes under the 0 and you have unlimited Gold instead.

Or 6776463 gold rather, but I guess that's pretty much unlimited.

EDIT:

This works fine for the released rom.

Thats called an integer overflow and is fairly common in games.

Some Cheat Engine work and I forced it on M capsule:

Yeah, I am aware. I forgot about how it was called though.

Edit: Another bug: if you drop a bomb, you're not allowed to drop another one on same spot. However, if you drop a bomb and go to menu in and out, you can drop another bomb at same place.

Would like to say thank you for releasing the prototype as well! Been hoping you would, but I had my doubts. & thanks for your extensive research/documenting of the rom with help from forum members, a lot of interesting stuff for Lufia fans.

Nice, the original access method for the debug mode is still intact.

In a location, press Select + Start + Y to enable debugging. A sound effect confirms success.

To turn debugging off again, press L + R shoulder buttons. A sound effect will play for this, too.
