The N64 CIC's have not all been decapped yet, so we dont yet have the 'keys' needed to make a clone CIC, although there is work currently underway on the NTSC N64 CIC's:-
    http://www.retroactive.be/cic/

The algorithm that has been reverse engineered is the challenge/response part of the CIC, this enables emulators to respond to the games security checks. As far as I know this challenge/response is unrelated to the 'key' part of the CIC that responds to the consoles 'lock' PIF-NUS chip and allows the console to boot up. If your interested in more info this Nintendo patent goes into lots of detail:-
    http://www.google.com/patents?id=OnIDAAAAEBAJ&printsec=abstract&zoom=4

The hackmii post helped 'ikari_01' develop an open source SNES CIC clone using a PIC, this is what the Super Everdrive uses:-

    http://nesdev.parodius.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?p=59920&highlight=#59920
A NES CIC clone was developed by 'kevtris' some time ago, but its not open source:-
    http://www.retrousb.com/product_info.php?cPath=24&products_id=37

    i) Wont work until the N64 CIC is decapped, keys read, and the chip is reverse engineered.
ii) Conkers Bad Fur Day works fine already  Its Banjo-Tooie thats needs to be cracked. Jet Force Gemini (and apparently Donkey Kong 64) also dont work normally without the 6105, but there are cracks already available.
iii) Wont work unless KRIKzz produces a new bootloader/menu that is compatible with the CIC-NUS-6105, and has some way of knowing which CIC is installed.

Thanks for the info in the replies!

yes replace conker's bad fur day with banjo tooie in that post :) and 6101 with 6102..

So, to summarise - the only game that cannot be played is Banjo Tooie with no workaround at this time. correct?

On the subject of the Bootloader, is Krikzz using LaC's bootemu? There is a note in the NFO from LaC about it possibly underclocking the N64 RAM a causing the framerate to run slower. Could this be impacting everdrive64 users?

LaC did that in the 1.0 version of the bootloader, he fixed it for the 1.1 version.

I was saying that there was a problem with WWF No Mercy but it actually DOES work (it is playable, but you cannot save Championship mode, HOWEVER you can save/load created characters via controller pak).

To load the game highlight the game and press R until next to SAVE: underneath the page number it says "SRAM128" that makes the game playable but not very saveable.

I am playing No Mercy on my Everdrive from Stone Age Gamer right now with OS v 1.02; FWv1.00

With dr.mario 64 I get emulator not found error while with tetris 64 (jpn version made by seta) get white screen with corrupted graphics and it just crashes. Did this on previous os and firmware. Using latest and still does this.

There was a bug with the first version of No Mercy when it came out. After you turned off the game, the save would be deleted. I remember my brother having to take it back to Woolworths and getting the updated version. Maybe you are using the bugged version of the game?

I've actually heard about this. But I don't think this is the case as even characters who costumes you dont edit and championship mode unsaved after you leave the screen. Say you win 3 matches in a row in championship mode, play a VS match with a friend and then try to go back to championship mode your progress will be deleted even if you did not turn off your console. I'm guessing this is because this is a FlashRam saving game and until the newest firmware there were still FlashRam problems.

Let me know if anyone else has my SRAM trick working or if they are able to save championship mode.

Correct. Over the years most people have forgotten about this or no longer care. Truth is it's a SEVERE recurring issue in affected copies. From time to time without warning, all saved data stored the cartridge will vanish. I'm not sure of the actual cause or whether it happens to ROM dumps.

On the worst copies not just championship mode progress is deleted either. Such ones like I had, created wrestlers and all. Gone.

Yeah, I got one from Emere yesterday and it seems to work really well. I only found one problem on my first load, I had like 9 pages of ROMs and the OS crashed about the 7th-8th one. On later loadings I haven't been able to reproduce the problem.
