F/S Dreamcast Internal SD Mod

Sure no problem. One thing to all people who buy the ribbon addon is that you will need some flux either the pen, paste or liquid and a fine tip soldering iron to attach the addon board to the serial port with little effort. Even though it is simple the solder pads on the addon board are tiny as hell so flux will help immensely to those with little soldering skill.

 

I'm WAY out of the loop when it comes to this SD card stuff. Does Dreamshell support GDI images now?

Anyway to post some larger pics of the board installed? I am gonna buy one in a day or so once my eBay funds come in.

 

Which pics do you want zoomed? The Addon board? The pictures look pretty good at telling where to install it and how I bent the ribbon cable so it fits nicely under the laser assembly and has space on the right hand side where I mounted it and cut a notch so I can insert the SD card.

 

I would like to buy one, are these still available?

I installed mine last night and it works wonderfully. I dumped a GD-ROM last night at just over 32 minutes using DC SD Ripper v1.1 and a class 10 SDHC card. Lower class cards take just around 45 minutes so the speed of the card has a direct reflection on how fast the adapter works. This is the same as my old external SD adapter. Thanks for this in the coming weeks I may order a few more as they are a wonderful piece of hardware when I don't want to pull out my BBA for submissions to TOSEC/Trurip.

 

I have an internal VGA Adapter board I'm working on that will use the same setup with a quick solder board and ribbon connector so stay tuned. I'm glad everything is working good for you and the SD Card is definitely the important component in speed let alone being able to work with the latest Dreamshell.

 

I will be getting one of those for sure and so long as a HQ card is used DS will read it. I am curretnly using a 64gb SDHC San Disc Extreme trouble free. What I think would be awesome is a VGA/S-Video quick solder board.

 

I have some prototype boards I'm testing and an S-Video connection could easily be added to the board but not sure how much space the System has to hold another socket in the back of it.

 

I have one now with VGA S-Video and RCA audio jacks out the back but don't have to worry about a board though either. Anyhow I would get this reguardless as I have a set of official S-Video and scary RGB cables I can use on the few games not supporting VGA as it isn't very many at all.
