yes, the game ends, unlike Oblivion. so you just gotta rap everything you wanna do up before you complete the final mission.
I like Fallout 3, but I don't think it will last me as long as Oblivion did. Awesome visuals and stuff, and its amazing how they remade D.C., but I've only put like 15 or 20 hours in (maybe more) and Im like level 13. I didn't do much exploring at all in the areas basically on the left side of Megaton though.
I'm just wondering how many of you played the old Fallouts. Do the hardcore fans (I mean people who actually love the old ones, not lunatics on the internet) like it? I never played the old ones cus I didn't have a computer when they were new, but they looked cool. I liked the name and box art.
NMA fans are about as elitist and "hardcore" over Fallout as they come. They hate Fallout 3 because its not turn based and a lot of other crap. These guys were making modifications for the game BEFORE IT EVEN CAME OUT to make it like the older games. Yeah.
I don't even count stubborn ass bastards like that as true fans of anything but bitching. I know a lot of fucking elitist asshole PC gamer/fallout whatevers, and they piss me off to no end. It's even worse dealing with them in person because they have this stupid grin the whole time they tell you there hardcore gamers yet they hate absolutly every fucking game there is.
I've been playing more tonight. I think Oblivion had a lot more longevity to be perfectly honest. Maybe its because the area in FO3 is much smaller and there aren't as many dungeons. I think the landscape is awesome looking and all, but its so empty and many of the buildings are un-explorable. The D.C. areas are also a PAIN to navigate. Its not so bad once you get to an area so you can quick travel back and forth though.
I've played all three previous Fallouts, and I still love this one. But I wouldn't call Fallout 3 a sequel, it seems more like a spinoff. It's got the same setting and all that jazz, but the gameplay is vastly different. I just happen to like both styles of play. So I'm happy. And I love the vast nothingless in Fallout. It really helps make the setting more immersive and realistic (I know, kinda hard with giant mutants, but bare with me). I don't think there'd be tons of creatures left out there after a gigantic nuclear strike.
i've put over 30 hours into the game and i'm half-way to level 16. i've only done about 4 of the main quests, i think... and a bunch of the side quests. i also haven't explored much on the western side of the map. it's cool though, since my level is higher, the enemies are getting awesomer and awesomer.
I played the first one, but not the second (with the brotherhood of steel and all that). The new FPS gameplay is a breath of fresh air no matter what some ppl say, the isometric-RPG was already getting old when Fallout was released.
I finally unlocked Power armor yesterday. The Enclave Power armor kind of looks cool. Speaking of the main quest, I felt like a jackass in Vault 112. Don't want to spoil anything, but it involved making a little boy cry. And I don't think you could have skipped it, unless you already knew what to do in the abandoned house. And even after that, I hated what happened to everyone in Vault 112. I like this game, but I think I like Oblivion more though. Its probably just a genre thing, maybe. Oh, and by the way, is it possible to settle things non violently with people that try to attack you? Not talking about Raiders, but people like the Overseer or the other Overseer.
I loved the older Fallouts and I love Fallout 3. I actually figured out the serenity lane puzzle without any internet help, and let me say it is awesome. AWESOME. I'm pretty sure that you don't need to fight the overseer.
I am i the only one whos getting really weird dreams in after playing this game? lol Seriously ive had some well weird dreams over the last couple days.
A year ago I would've laughed at you, but after playing Bioshock I got the same. Several of my friends did as well.
Funny, I had a similar dream. I dreamt I was in a Vault run by Nazi-like guys who kill people that are slightly different from the others. They walked into a room and shot everyone, but I hid. They found me, and I talked my way out of getting shot but for punishment they locked me in a room with ugly 500 pound women. Yeah, I don't know what I ate that night.
I can't remember what happened, but it was definitely influenced by the visual aesthetic of Bioshock. I know, I know. A grown man dreaming about video games, for fuck's sake. Outside of a little tetris-vision before going to sleep, I haven't had dreams about games since I was a kid.
I don't understand what you're getting at. It's one of the most visually striking games I've ever seen.
It did have a good atmosphere and setting but I didn't think that it had an interesting look to it compared to a lot of other games. I have a totally different opinion on Bioshock then everyone else it seems so bear with me, lol. I get what you mean though.
