Slightly off-topic, but why is square so good at making female characters that make the parts in my pants do funny things?

Is it just me, or is lightning seriously one of the hottest videogame females of all time ( and this is coming from a guy who usually pokes fun at people who have attractions to VG characters)

How about male characters that make you second-guess your sexual orientation? Bah.. Give us storylines and characters we can relate to.. I've grown up on anime long before most even heard of the word, but can't take this stuff anymore.

This is what I kinda dislike about this decade's flood of "trendy" game characters. They're pretty much all aspirational characters. Everything about them is just perfect, even their problems and shortcomings, and that's not a good thing (to me, anyway).

Well I just sold my copy of FF13 on Ebay today. I got to chapter 10 and just haven't played it since. I just haven't been able to get into the game like I have other Final Fantasies; and this is coming from a long time Final Fantasy fan. The linear aspect of the game just didn't do it for me, and I didn't really care either way for the characters. A lot of the reason why I got rid of it so quick also comes from the fact that I am pretty broke right now and need the extra cash; and that I don't have much time for it. But still, I just felt like I couldn't get into like I have most of the others. I'd still like to pick it up and finish it though, eventually.

I'm way more excited about FF14.

That makes 2 of us. The battle system just keeps growing on me more and more. Although its way too easy to 5 star every fight, at least it has been so far. The Eidolon battles that ive done so far were kinda tough though.

Bought it to play with the girlf. It seems way oversimplified. FFX bored me and the battles were really stat heavy and in depth. This seems very, erm, sparse in terms of optins-autobattle and the such. I like in RPGs when every waits for their turns to be taken. I do like this constant action format, too, but it seems a bit crowded on the playfield; a lot going on at once.

But we'll see how it goes! Ill definatly play it, its the msot ive spent on a game in effing ages, for the sake of having it *now*..

Does anyone else here thinks that Hope's dad looks exactly like Otakon?

Is it just me or is the cast in XIII the most likable since IX?

X had me lost at the kids saying TEACH US HOW TO BLITZ.
XII I haven't even touched yet.

So I had the chance to play this game at a store kiosk yesterday...
Had to quit about 3 minutes later because I simply could not stand the horrible and annoying english voice acting! Sounded as bad as FFX/X-2!

Is there an option to switch to the original voices?

Having now played through both the japanese and US versions, I have to say the localization is extremely well done. If your used to the Japanese it does take some getting used too with the new english voices but I do think that in the end its the superior sound mix.

For instance, Vanille and Fang both have Austrailian accents, which may seem odd until you realize they're both from Pulse, unlike the other group members who are Coccoon natives. Also having an African American voice for Sazh does fit better, one must admit. I'm curious if the Japanese voices for these characters have different regional dialects, something a westerner can't pick up on easily.

Overall this is an incredible game. Its very different then other entries in the series but I loved the crystarium level up system and the item upgrade system. The battle system is the first in the series where you actually wanted to get into battles because its such a blast. The story is the best in the FF canon with easily the best most developed characters.

I have liked this game a lot too. I still have a serious gripe with Vanille's voice, but other than that, I've loved the game.

One thing that really annoys the hell out of me in recent FF games is missable treasure that is necessary to get the best weapons - like those chests on XII and similar things.

FFXIII is straightforward, so there hasn't been any of that so far... I think.

The battle system is great, too. I really enjoy it. It's really fast, too.
