I like the battle system but I can't bear all these cutscenes! 7 hours of gameplay and I'm already on Disc 2! This is the first game I've bought brand new for £35+ in ages, to play with the girlf, and most of it is just CUTSCENES!!
He wasn't too bad. I did get a little stumped on the sisters, the first summony thing. These are the only -real- challenges I've had so far..
I'm on chapter eleven, where it starts getting non-linear. The FUCKING MAP doesn't point north on the menu. It just FUCKING rotates with you. It took me like an hour to figure out where the fuck I was and where the fuck I was supposed to go. Once I got the hang of it, though, smooth sailing. It really does get a bit harder, but it lets you grind for Crystarium Points and turn your characters into killing machines. Quite nice, so far.
20 odd hours in now and still wondering when this is going to "get awesome" I hope everyone didn't just mean that you get more than 2 people in the team again? Don't get me wrong, it's a fine game, going to put the hours in and see it through to the end, but everyone went "ZOMG it's awesome after 16/20 hours" and I just don't see it.
I sold it recently. I was at Chapter 9 or so. I want to play a game, not watch pissing cutrscenes. It had descended into me browsing the internet or texting while I was playing- I waS just tapping A all the time.
As much as I like FFXIII, your choice was definitely right. It's, by far, the better game of the two. Man, if FF13 allowed you to do half the things you can do in Fallout 3, with that level of detail, it would truly be the revolution it was advertised to be.
Around the chapter 11 mark there is a huge bump in the difficulty. This is because of the new open world and missions that are available. The game is basically telling you to grind at this point, by going on missions. However, right when you go into Gran Pulse, turn left and you'll see 5 bird creatures around a treasure box. This fight will give you about a 1,000 cp, keep grinding here and when your three main crystarium powers are full, then its time to move on. If you don't have the patience to grind that far, you can use the behemoth fight right at the beginning of Gran Pulse. Basically, if you can beat that Behemoth, move on, otherwise keep grinding. And definitly level up any accessories that increase your strength or magic. In fact useing multiple power ups on the different slots, makes a huge difference. The game definitely wants you to level up your items and grind, by doing so the fights will actually be pretty standard diffuclty on 11, 12, and 13.
I did all the lower level side quests and leveled up my weapons to tier two before I went on to the next chapter. My main roles just hit lvl 4 and I'm near the end of chapter 12. 4600-5400 HP per character.
