So King of Fighter XIV is coming. YES FUCKING FINALLY. SNK was bought out by a Chinese firm who wants to go all multimedia with them marvel style.

That's pretty much the reaction. OK YEAH I'm disappointed it's not in glorious 2d a style that almost bankrupted SNK and is probably why they had to be sold off. I'd prefer it look like Guilty Gear Xrd. But who cares what it looks like, as long as it plays well. Street Fighter IV looks like Ass but is amazing. Sadly nobody else seems to feel this way and it's sad. KOF XIV is still in development maybe the models will improve as they continue to work on it and get the much needed funds from their new Chinese overlords. Everyone is instantly pessimistic about this game. I'm Cautiously optimistic.

 

Considering how badly XIII pandered to the animu fighting game fans, there's a good reason to be skeptical if this game is gonna take the same route.

 

what is your problem with "Animu"? KOF XIII was great. SO is Arcana Heart once you figure out that convoluted system it has.

 

I don't like games with floaty controls and emphasis on 25949 hit combos. The fact that every new fighting game seems to be like that makes me want KoF and SF to stay the way they are so there's at least some kind of an alternative.

 

Nothing wrong with Combos, they're fun to pull off.
There's still Tekken and Soul Calibur. Well for now just Tekken.

well... the older developers from the 10 kof years must all be retired now, so if they don't care, who will...
if a mexican company had bought maybe kof could have been saved.

 

I don't think it looks bad, other than Kyo looks like gay teen porn star. it is still in development lets wait and see.

 

The internet gives everyone a voice and no matter how good will be, the criticism will flow. Many Japanese gamers recently flipped out about Cammy not looking "cute enough" in SFV, and now it's pretty much been confirmed that...capcom took heed and changed her slightly. (see before and after pics below) I don't think the new KOF looks bad and it appears that the fighting will be 2d (or will it?)..hey, at least its not KOF Maniax.

 

Well, maybe I'm reading elsewhere, because I believe that Street Fighter 4 characters were never called cute. Not a single one of them.

I'm not following Street Fighter V too much but that cammy you posted seems way better than the SF4 one to me. It even gives me a little hope because Ryu looked the same and Ken looked hideous. At least cammy is well made this time.

 

They got their panties in a twist because Capcom originally had her looking too "Western" and not anime enough. Because why make the British girl look Western?

Here's a quote from a Japanese gamer that was used in a few articles describing it as pretty par for the course among japanese gamers when remarking about her initial appearence in SFV:

I had no trouble with how she looked but..have to admit she does look better now. In the end, i'm more concerned with how she plays..and I liked what I played in the beta. BTW Just a few more days until the next Beta! Here's list of characters offered later this week:

I'll only care if Mai's boobs are bigger than the previous KOFs. In Maximum Impact they were the biggest things on her, even bigger than her fans. lol

The Cammy thing only deals with her alternate.

 

That is Cammy's alternate in the picture but she has been changed for her primary as well. Confirmed:

" When Cammy was first revealed as a playable character back during E3, the reception to her appearance wasn't the greatest over seas. Earlier this month, it was reported that a number of keen-eyed observers noticed some changes in her facial features that made her appear "cuter", though this was not confirmed at the time. It turns out that fans weren't just seeing things, however.

In a recent interview with 4gamer, Street Fighter 5 producer Koichi Sugiyama and assistant producer Tomoaki Ayano discussed the reception of the game's newly revealed playable fighter, Karin.

Sugiyama explained that although Karin's reveal took place on a business day, fans were still in attendance and overjoyed to see the Street Fighter Alpha 3 veteran return. He goes on to note that EG|K-Brad and EG|PR Balrog were also there and among those shouting the loudest.

"Oh, they were! I heard them go ‘oh my God!’ and that made me really happy,” Sugiyama said, laughing.

But perhaps the most interesting piece of this interview is the portion addressing the potential Street Fighter 5 appearance changes. When asked if Capcom actually did go about making changes to Cammy and Chun-Li's faces, the two producers confirmed.

“Oh, you guys caught it?" Sugiyama asked. “Good job on noticing that. It’s true that we’ve been changing them,” continued Ayano.

Though the changes were made partially due to fan feedback, it appears there were more factors at play.

“Well there’s definitely that, but considering that the game is in the midst of development, not limited to character’s faces—we’re currently continuing with various improvements on motions, frame data, and battle balance,” Sugiyama explained.

Ayano adds to that, pointing out that a number of things come into play when it comes to in-game faces, such as camera angles, shadows, and more, all of which can cause "illusions."

So if you Compare to the above picture I posted you'll see she has indeed been changed. Sorry to the OP, I dodn't mean for the thread to be turned into the "cammy changed thread" I was mearly using that as an example of people not being happy no matter what.

 

She does look better now. Cammy's face did look off. Now lets complain about her leotard not showing off nipple pokies.

Chun Li though, when has Chun Li ever been this hot?

 

Not sure if you've played the beta but her "boob bounce" on the into vs screen I was actually shocked..I thought she was a Dead or Alive character for a second!..lol. Which I just checked and Capcom says it was a glitch that's been fixed...wow...what a glitch it was!

Honestly the last solid SNK fighter was Garou Mark Of The Wolves. Such a crime there was only ever one in the series.

 

I have just recently discovered that game through emulation and i'm hooked. I missed out on this one, agree..a 2nd one would have been amazing. Went to get the MVS cart for it but apparently lots of folks share your sentiment and it's pretty pricey.
