Wasn't it a Fatal Fury game?

As far as I'm concerned, any new KoF game with a roster smaller than 98's can fuck off right away.

It was only called "fatal fury" for the Dreamcast version. No idea why since it has different variables then the FF series. Although Terry Bogart is in the game. Crap..Now I realize I have to buy that game....thanks for costing me $60.00!..lol

I'm not positive but I believe only for the US dreamcast version. The PS2 version didn't say Fatal Fury, nor did any of the MVS/AES versions.

It was otherwise called "Garou", and the Japanese name for Fatal Fury was "Garou Densetsu" (plus the plot places the game 10 years after Real Bout 1 and is set in the same town that most previous Fatal Furies were set in, South Town).

It pisses me off to no end that a Garou 2 with KOF XIII style sprites was never made because SNK bankrupted themselves making XIII.

Garou's endings were all sequel baiting too.

A lot of of big HD sprites with hundreds of animation frames = insanely expensive. But you can always make a game with 3D engine which looks like it has hand-drawn sprites (like Guilty Gear Xrd) - looks a LOT better than those SF4 etc inflatable plastic dolls but far less expensive than real sprites.
But i don't think that Garou 2 will ever happen, sadly...

XIII is brilliant. Truly a work of art, so often underappreciated and unseen. I'm talking about the sprite work at least. I've never seen better.

But also, the main problem with XIV is that it lacks personality that defines it as KoF. It honestly looks more similar to SSB than KoF.
As ugly as SFIV is, it is full of distinguishable personality and a very specific style.

The sprites are very well made, but the art style of XIII is ugly as all hell. For example, Yuri looks like a stick figure and Ralf and Clark have been turned into steroid blobs.

I hope it's good I need my KOF fix. One thing about KOF games is that even if the game isn't that great, the music will be. Well......Except Neowave, Neowave's music was ass and so was the game.

2001 is also bad with a bad soundtrack. 97 is great and has a...mostly nonexistent soundtrack, though.

Have you heard the Arranged soundtrack to 2001? That's some good shit. I like the music from the Fight with Igniz in 2001 that's pretty epic for such a lack luster boss.

I'm still hoping for a return to greatness for the Samurai Showdown series. It was my favorite fighting game series back in the day, even more than Street Fighter but then they started a long winding path to mediocrity and then downright bad gameplay (SS Sen anyone?). I just discovered they mad a SS VI in Japan only for Arcade (yes, I know is samurai spirits over there) and PS2 and then made it to the states in the Wii SS anthology. Wondering which is the best home version?

    PS2 version is.

If A new Samurai Shodown doesn't look like Guilty Gear XRD they shouldn't even bother. 3d doesn't work for Shodown as Sen celearly shows in it's lowrent Soul Calibur Clone Bullshit. It's not a terrible game, but it's not a great one either.

agree, and I played Samurai Showdown 64 in an arcade once..can't believe they made a follow up to that. again, not horrible..but not great. Yes, samurai showdown was amazing for the time and if brought back it really needs to be done in amazing sprites and kept 2-d. Possibly 2-d play and 3d graphics but it would have to be something really eye catching or a different art style than what other such games have done/are doing. Don't just copy street fighter IV or V
