Do you have an estimated price?

Lol, for hdmi there are some solutions :)

Not yet, have to finalize parts list and draw a case.

I've just finished drawing the case, will order some for my prototype and make some photos. Everything looks so nice and simple so far, I'm very happy about the design.

Nice! I just ordered one of your SCART switches and this will compliment it well for my 6th gen consoles!

I have a question though. Will this do any sort of conversion between composite and component? I ask because my TV uses one of the component inputs as a composite input so using the component blocks composite. If it doesn't convert will it work correctly to plug the composite cable into the appropriate component connection for my TV?

Thanks! Looking forward to receiving the SCART switch and ordering one of these once available!

I think you can connect both composite and component to your TV using some simple RCA 2->1 adapter. You'll still have to use the TV remote and switch it to appropriate input, if you own Samsung TV at least.

    This looks awesome!
I have a question. I have a Sony Trinitron 36" TV where the composite/S-video inputs make the screen bounce. Constantly. Component inputs work perfectly.
Since I have no knowledge of CRT repair, and I don't think I can find anyone to do this anymore, I think I'm stuck only using component inputs on it.
If I plugged in (for example) an SNES with composite and had component setup as the output to the TV...would this work? Or does composite inputs have to have the composite output?

No, it won't work. Switch doesn't convert the signal, only forwards it.

Do you have a recommendation on a 8-1 HDMI switch?

I bought this one recently and I think it works very well so far. I found one downside, though: it does not switch to the correct port when I switch on my PS3 Slim. But then I can switch to it via front button or remote. Other devices switch automatically.

Well, I won't recommend the "Kinivo" one despite it had favorable rating on amazon. Cheaply made, very light, el-cheapo remote (not that I need it but anyway). I've seen some solid ones but didn't test them. So far 3 HDMI inputs were more or less enough, I may look into picking the right one in future. But it's all digital and there are rarely signal quality issues as far as I understand.

    gcompsw:
I have the case for the first prototype here, ordered some standoffs and they are too long so had to order shorter ones today. Also have to change Altera firmware a bit. Then I'll have to calculate the price and start production.

The PS3 and Xbox 360 support 1080p over component, why wouldn't this device support it?

The maximum you can get from PS3 over component is 1080i. I haven't tried 360 yet but as far as I know both of these consoles can do only 1080i over component.
EDIT: At least I've never seen 1080p over a component connection.
But switch should even forward 1080p source just fine given that you'll find such signal and TV combo to try.

Nope they both support 1080p over component. I have them both setup like that now as all my HDMI ports are occupied for better systems (wiiU/xbone/ps4)

I promise you they support 1080p...

Anyway... why wont this switch support 1080p? I am in the market for a component switch..

The IC's I use support 1080p as well. But I tend not to promise what I haven't tested myself. Neither of my PS3's (JAP fat 60Gb launch one and PAL slim 160Gb) can do 1080p over component, when I use the component cable 1080p option is simply grayed out. And I have no idea how console hardware can detect TV capability over one way component cable :)
EDIT: My bad: I've just checked and I am able to set 1080p over the component on my launch edition Japanese PS3, but my Sony display doesn't support it. Have to find some reliable way to check the output. chingy213 - thanks for the heads up!

How different, in all the things you could think of, it would be if it had 2 outputs? I mean, many people uses both CRT and HDTV, as well sometimes uses or not in some systems, a scaler like the xrgb. Or just buy a splitter likethis would do the job easy (and good)?

Internally the signal is amplified enough to easily split to two outputs but if I would add one more output I'll have to increase board size and add couple of other parts. I estimate that only 1 out of 20 will actually want such functionality thus I don't want to increase price for those 19 people out there.
Splitting can be done externally if needed, but I'm not sure about that splitter you are referring to.
