As of philosophy. It's better to make S-Video only switch. and it could be quite small because of the connector size.
S-Video is inferior anyway, use RGB.

Already have your RGB switch for my RGB monitor. ;) But two of my other CRT TV's are composite/S-Video only. On those TV's s-video is clearly superior.

Obviously building something for people who have old CRT TV's is pretty niche. The RGB SCART use case is also niche but was very needed. This composite/component switch is not niche as it will work with just about all HDTVs. And while I'd love a quality s-video switch for my other CRT's, I may be the only one.

    Oh, got it :)
Yeah, if you use older TV's you're quite limited in what you can connect there.

I'm considering getting one of these, since like you said, you are not likely to need more than one unit to suit your needs. However, I was wondering if there's a way to clean up the signal somehow for systems like the PS2 and others which has a faint noisy image. From what I've seen in my setup, using component cables with the PS2 makes up a slightly noisier image than when you use a RGB cable. Since you haven't integrated a sync stripper or so I guess that wouldn't help? When it comes to component I have no clue whatsoever. I'm more familiar with the SCART world.

Thanks! I just read through it all and that was very informative. :)

You can't fix noisy image. Sync stripper is not for this, it's for extracting sync from CVBS signal.

EDIT: sorry for the lack of progress, I'm doing my best to get all gscartsw units shipped.

I suppose one could split Luma and Chroma and put them through Y and Pb/Pr, your switch should have no problem with it. They just need to make mini-DIN / RCA adapters.

Yeah, this is no problem. You don't even have to split Luma/Chroma. RCA inputs can forward any kind of signal and it'll be detected as long as there will be sync (clean or unclean) either on Y or on CVBS input. The problem here are the adapters because if you want to use the component switch as S-Video switch you'll have to solder your own adapters because I don't thing there are any available.

So now that the most recent gscartsw batch is out will your main focus be on a production run of the gcompsw?

Yeah, this is the plan but first I'll need some rest because it was two weeks of assembling testing and packing :)

I love your scart switch. When this is ready I'll definitely grab one.

    Thanks!

I think the only console I have using component atm is my OG Xbox. I don't have the component cables for Gamecube and have Wii U for Wii games.

Interested what are you guys hooking up via component.

Wii, Gamecube, PS2, and XBox for me.

    Another possibility is a PSP.
